You're right Paul,but there's plenty of folks that want to dry said sad tears with barrel scrappling dollar profits.

For GA, as runs and first appearances have become prohibitive, "Classic covers" have rivaled the traditional keys in interest, and even at rapidly appreciating prices are still generally cheaper than first appearances when it comes to Superhero books (though not always for lesser known characters) . They have completely dominated genres without continuing characters, especially in the age of slabbing, where all one can really appreciate is the cover. 

This has traditionally been a lesser trend with SA and early BA, with classic battle covers perhaps leading the way, but I suspect collecting "classic covers" will continue to be a growing focus among collectors of books from those eras, and with later eras as well.

Up until the Hulk storyline (editorial interference to bring the series into the mainstream Marvel universe) I thought it was excellent.

With so many 1st apps way outside of my comfort zone, 2nd apps of major Spidey villains have become doable for me.  I know since I have been buying, they have escalated.  My ASM 17 (2nd Green Goblin) has almost doubled since I got it here on the boards.  Not movie hype escalation, but I'm happy with it.

This was already a thing.  GS Dracula 5- 1st Byrne at Marvel. Nightmare 20- 1st Byrne pro work, etc...
