Greetings,

I've found myself in a collector's niche recently, focusing on Topps Comics. Topps began publishing and distributing comics in the early 1990s, the decade I grew up in, some of my first comics were Topps Comics, specifically issues of the Jurassic Park (1993) adaptation. I've googled Topps Comics a few times and have found some interesting odds and ends in various dollar bins over the last few years.

Topps Comics is the epitome on 90s comics, many of them came sealed in polybags with posters or trading cards (Bram Stoker's Dracula), many of their titles were television or movie adaptations (X-Files, Zena: Warrior Princess) and there were also plenty of #0's and foil logo editions. I've also discovered a few other series like Cadillacs and Dinosaurs and various titles from industry legend Jack Kirby. I've also seen a few familiar names on various Topps books like writer Roy Thomas, artists Adam Hughes (Zorro) Gil Kane, Todd McFarlane and Mike Mignola.

From ComicVine:

https://comicvine.gamespot.com/topps-comics/4010-519/

"Topps Company Incorporated announced the formation of Topps Comics in March 1992. The company produced books until 1998 taking advantage of a short comics industry boom that attracted many investors and around 9 other new companies were formed in the same time period. The market experienced an increase in comic book market speculation that created inflated sales and the market eventually collapsed taking Topps Comics down with it in 1998.

The company's president was Jim Salicrup (born: May 29, 1957) who started his career at Marvel where he started out as a messenger. In twenty years he worked his way up to editor and in 1992 he became the editor-in-chief of the newly formed Topps Comics until it's demise in 1998."

Let's see your Topps Comics!

One of my favorites, Bram Stoker's Dracula #1 Red Foil Edition. Story by Roy Thomas, wonderful art from Hellboy creator Mike Mignola.

The whole series looks great actually.

Speaking of Topps and Mignola, I really like this cover.

Zorro #6

At the time I thought John Cleary was going to break out as a comic artist. Although his characters were somewhat caricatures, his art featured a lot of elements popular in comic art at the time.

Great signature placement, I also like the extra touch Ms. Anderson added.

Here’s a cool series I didn’t know about until recently.

I haven’t read any of these but these covers look neat. I want to say they are very comic book-ey, how to describe this? I don’t know. It’s just the concept, the Dames and dinosaurs. The art reminds me of that of Al Williamson.

Some obscure later run topps comics, the wacky packages title lasted 6 issues and was available only via mail order. Print runs were 300-600 each if I recall. I only have these two, #1 was a mini with art by jay lynch

If you like these - get the original Xenozoic Tales by Mark Schultz - some of the best stuff the medium has ever put out.

My Topps favourite - Lone Ranger & Tonto by Joe Lansdale and Tim Truman.  Not as far out as the Jonah Hex minis they were doing at DC (that started in the same time period iirc) but a lot of fun.  Truman is always good.

I've got about a dozen Topps books, give or take - never did by the X-Files but may grab them at some point.

Good luck with your hunt man - always cool to collect an entire line of books and these will be more in the fun hunt category than the spend a pile category!

The horror movie books are great, always fun to find these hiding in the discount box. Jason vs. Leather face art by Simon Bisley is killer, can't wait to find the rest of the series.
