Has anyone here ever heard of this term in relation to a comics grade?

"This Amazing Spider-man #15 is a VG with oxidation"

TF does that even mean???

ox·i·da·tion

  (ŏk′sĭ-dā′shən)

n.
1. The combination of a substance with oxygen.
2. A reaction in which the atoms of an element lose electrons and the valence of the element is correspondingly increased.

Did this comic get exposed to.....OXYGEN???? SAY IT AIN'T SO!!!!!
Maybe the scientist/chemist who graded the book could tell that the book had increased valence?
Are there any chemistry wizards that can get to the bottom of this?

I think of oxidation as when you have interior cover tanning with that lightish speckling, usually around the top or side edges... it sometimes means the cover stock edges are starting to get weak/fragile, so is potentially worse than just tanning on its own.

The speckling I describe is also a 'hidden' defect, so it's nice when a dealer or collector flags it when describing a book. Mycomicshop is particularly good about that when listing and grading their books.

I asked Jeeves, and it just directed me to my deactivated Myspace account.

I asked Bing, and there were no results..., :sorry:

Yup. Always a problem. I recommend a good multivitamin supplement.

Or, at least, some Vitamin C.
