Could this NM98 possibly bump to a 9.9 with a press?

Hey everyone, I have this New Mutants 98, graded 9.8 with white pages that I bought and put away a while ago. I pulled it out the other day and was looking at it, and it has some pretty visible spine roll. The rest of the books looks about perfect. Could this possibly be pressed into a 9.9? I know it's a long shot, but any input would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

I agree with dudes post above lol waste of money. I doubt you would get a 9.9 but the choice to roll the dice is up to you. but I think its just that rolling the dice.

If someone could remove that spine bend, it would certainly make it a stronger candidate.

Keep in mind that when pursuing a 9.9 or a 10.0, tiny imperfections will be painstakingly scrutinized by probing eyes. Whatever you decide to do, I do wish you the best of luck...  :foryou:

Also from the pics it looks like some FC edge bottom right has some wear could be from printing edge doesn't look as sharp like a dull blade. this could be seen in your 5th pic or could be glare from light.

I'm sorry, I'm not sure what you mean... FC, is that front corner, and do you mean bottom left (5th pic is bottom left corner)

thanks for the help.

Out of curiosity, do books that grade at 9.9 or 10 get encapsulated the same as any other grade? If the tiniest dent ruins >90% of the books value I would think the holder would need to be perfectly fitted.

OK. That's one small issue. What about on the spine and on the bottom edge to the left of "1941"?

Spine is good, that bottom edge/corner is square. The lite dab of purple is from the back that looks like it's dinged. See front and back pix of that corner below. IMG_6500.thumb.JPG.4500d24d531c1dd7212a5f7154ad2500.JPGIMG_6499.thumb.JPG.3f828b0741d20bd6499799f6f447629d.JPG
