Another excellent Baltimore in the books.  Had some incredible buying and was thrilled at how well it went this year.  I'm still in the camp that there are other spots to buy at other than conventions that the margin buying is simply better but this is one of the best shows the country especially on site bringing out some old time guys grading stuff and then many of them being ready to immediately sell.  Plenty of the major dealers around of course.  

Saw tons of boardies, plenty of cheap high grade bronze and copper commons to be had and to score on or keep for your collection.  Just a ridiculously fun show.

Here is some quick pictures of the books I was able to unearth.  The Rom 1 was not cheap (bit under GPA) but I liked the copy and it seems undervalued considering other bronze #1s.  The magazines should clean up nice and you can’t go wrong with those classic covers.  The long box of books from Earl's had a couple minor keys that I was able to find hidden among the boxes.  Like Foolkiller just said there was just a ton of higher grade Bronze books in the $1 (Thor, Green Lanterns, Avengers) and some nice Silver Age books in the $3 boxes.

The show was a great show. We ended up with 3 short boxes between me and my friend, though I should say is 3.5 boxes as the .5 box is for my personal collection. Gonna be tricky in how to disburse the luggage weight to avoid overweight fee 😆

We had enjoyed very much by chatting with new dealers and boardies there. I had chatted with one dealer who has two interesting display stands with paperback books ... one being the DC brand and other one the Marvel brand. See the photo showing the DC stand. The dealer told me that he got them from the former store which was in business for 40 years in Virginia until its closing. These display stands were stored in the back of store with ALL original books unsold! He has 4 stands - two of DC, two of Marvel. They are all from late 1970s.

This was at Bill's booth.  He's a pretty nice guy and usually has some interesting things.  He had a couple of boxes of European Disney comics, Cheerios premiums and other giveaways plus lots of regular comics from all ages.  I see him at Detroit shows and at other places pretty regularly.

I had never been to a big show before this weekend.  My experience was limited to small and local cons, and one horrible Wizard show.  I can't even quantify how fantastic this show was as a collector and comic fan.  I was able to snag super tough books, meet a ton of board members and IG community guys, and really get immersed in the experience.  Really had no downside to the whole event.  I will most definitely be back!

Specifically, @Zolnerowich, @comicjack, @Ricksneatstuff, and @RICK STARR were all total class!  Nice to put faces to names!

Here is a couple thought about the Con based on what I saw:

The prices for hot keyswere crazy high but the further from scorching hot you went the more reasonable the prices were.  I’d love to grab a Sub-Mariner 1 but the prices were sky high and most hot books like that one were bordering on not reasonable but maybe that was just the going prices.  Most dealers were happy to work out a nice bulk discount which is the only way I could work out a lot of my purchases.  Avoid Golden Age and the keys and the deals were everywhere.

Golden Age is just crazy hot especially with the dealers in the room.  Two years ago it was all about keys like HOS 92 and WBN 32 but this time I saw so many huge deals going down and most involved Golden Age books.  It’s almost like Golden Age  books are the new currency and most everything else is just gravy.

Baltimore gets a bad rap but I felt perfectly safe walking around near the convention center.  And if you are near there - the Sheraton has a great dinner buffet.  $18 for all you can eat jumbo shrimp, buffalo wings, salad, chicken nachos, desert and a drink. Not gourmet but a great price so near the convention center.

i didn’t see any siding or gutter booths that would tell me they were having a tough time selling out booths.  All of the dealers I talked to seemed happy with Thursday and Friday sales.  The whole Con seems to just be run very well and there is a happy feeling in the air which is refreshing compared to the last Wizard show I went to.

Runner up in second is the Sliver Samurai.  My friend did the whole video of all cosplayers on stage, a long one.

How does this compare to C2E2?  Looks like they both have amazing selections of books.  But maybe Baltimore possibly even better at books and less cosplay/celebrities?
