Anyone hear anything about a cancellation?

At the moment, they are still rolling on with the event.  Next time, please be careful saying the forbidden word, as it seems the show get disappear when someone utter that word. 😅😅

Stay safe, be in good health! 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

With things always changing with COVID-19 regulations, who know what will happen come the end October. Right now Maryland is on the high-end of the spectrum when it comes to rising cases.

Hopkins calculates the rate differently than the Maryland Department of Health.

  • New York and Connecticut: 1.1%
  • New Jersey: 1.6%
  • Delaware: 4.4%
  • Maryland: 5.8%

Currently, they have required anyone over the age of 2 that face mask are mandatory. In addition, Baltimore Mayor ordered city restaurants to suspend indoor dining. This may not go well for indoor attractions unfortunately.

But again, who knows what will happen by October. Hears hoping for the best :wishluck:

Baltimore's current guidelines regarding indoor events say  the event is limited to 25% of capacity, and casinos and bowling alleys as well as restaurants for indoor dining are open

The capacity of the center is 14,000  people

Meaning the show can take place with a maximum of 3,500 people in the center at any one time

Assuming the staff, artists, and dealers account for half, They can allow 1,750 attendees in the hall at any given period, Careful crowd control and asking attendees to understand and limit their time in the hall would make this workable,

'  Also This is still 2 months away, and we say a further loosining  of restrictions

I am signed up as a dealer and remain optimistic .

That sounds horrific. Can you imagine waiting hours just to get in and then worry about how much time you spend in the show once you do get in.

If I may ask ... what were the attendance total for Baltimore Comic Con in total of 3 days last year and the past years before? Using the numbers to average.  I went there last year and what I have seen inside and around inside the building seems ... a lot more than 14,000 people. That was the sense I had as I walked and browsed in the show.

Assuming if the show adopted the 25% of capacity, that is max 3,500 inside with social distancing policy. Depending on how many vendors and special event guests take up half of this number. How many would you say are the comic collector in wanting to buy comics? I’m saying that because I am sure some attendees are just cosplayers for fun, some for other aspects of collectibles or for entertainment stuff.  I would image some comic vendors are considering how much sales they can expect to generate with the 25% capacity attendance. I see the point of standing outside waiting for long hours and, then am told I have XX hours limit to browse around? Meaning I must leave for other attendance to enter to be fair with everyone. If it does happen then, it would felt like I am rushing to max my thrill time running booth to booth in search of good deals ...I would be pooped out tired out of breath! :p

Should be interesting to see how they will handle if the show do go on through! For now I stay on fence and wait, undecided.

Does Baltimore have the 25% building capacity rule?

OR

25% building capacity or 25 persons whichever is lower rule?

(shrug)

From what I can tell its not even open at the moment.

When will the Baltimore Convention Center begin to hosts events again?

  • The Baltimore Convention Center is currently unable to host events during the current State of Emergency enacted by Governor Hogan in March of this year. Events will take place again when the state of emergency has been lifted.

Hm, if this fact is still in effect... then as long Governor Hogan is in office, he has the authority to decide on the fate of Baltimore Comic Con. With two months left to go and the COVID cases don’t look good there.... odds is against that.

This was posted on their facebook page in response to someone asking what the status was:

This is what they told me a week ago: At the moment, we have not cancelled the event. The Baltimore Convention Center, though, is currently a COVID testing center through the end of September, as well as a facility to house the extra hospital beds acquired when the convention center was a COVID hospital. We are awaiting guidance from the convention center, government, and healthcare officials before making final decisions, though I would say things are looking more unlikely the later we get in the year. We will make announcements to our mailing list (which you can sign up for on baltimorecomiccon.com if you're not already on it), as well as posting to our website and social media, which will include how we're handling purchased tickets. Stay tuned...

Sounds like no refunds transfer over.

As far as I can see there is zero mention on their main website about Covid. If they aren't going to offer full refunds at this point that is very shady in my opinion.
