Tom Mix #8 (Ralston-Purina, 2/42) 7.0 CR-OW  $175   $150 

Sole highest graded for this issue.  The Ralston-Purina Tom Mix, a 12 issue series, was a promo you had to mail in for, and so usually the condition is VG at best.  Out of 69 slabs for the entire Tom Mix series, only seven books grade higher than 7.0.

Beautiful detailed art by Fred Meagher.  He really killed it with this series.  Wash was the comedic black sidekick, and to say he was depicted in what today would be considered non-PC terms, would be quite the understatement.

Flying Cadet V2#7 (St. John, 9/44)  8.5 OWW  $275   SOLD!

A 17 issue series, founded by the always innovative Archer St. John, with the first issue coming out in 1943.  It was aimed at the student airman, with each issue running 50 to 60 pages of illustrated text.  All issues except one were photocover.

The first time I saw this book it blew me away.  It's freaky cool war, and actually depicted the in-plane environment in certain extreme conditions.  It took me many, many years to find one in this condition.

Tom Mix 8 will stay up for one more day.  It really is a great book.  A raw Fine sold last night on HA for $156.
