WARNING: eBay Sellers - The Buyer is ALWAYS right ( if eBay decides! )

Another HORRIBLE! case of freezing of funds / forced refunds-  furious! with eBay’s New?? business model: ‘buyers always right’ —-keeps their payroll costs down / don’t need human resolution specialists—  and it’s really nasty!  :pullhair:

My buyer complained (condition - that’s BS - Sweet! raw 9.6 / can grade those in my sleep  zzz) and then disappeared\~ but the moment he filed the complaint,  my funds needed for even a “possible“ refund ~ automatically and instantly frozen by PayPal. (That’s called guilty until proven innocent! )

I asked eBay if they could step in since buyer was Thereafter unresponsive to me and eBay - just disappeared. I sent eBay a response- trying to close the case/ unfreeze PayPal funds. Well, eBay did their investigation - in about 1 second! electronically / no reading of what I just sent them - computer said:

buyer: INNOCENT VICTIM :foryou:

Also have pics from the Auction — when / if ? I get these sent back, I will inspect for damage, relist accordingly ( they’re either still 9.6 or not ), and block the current buyer...

Same thing happened to me sold, a CGC graded 9.4 book. Buyer wanted to return the book since he didn't agree with the grade that CGC gave it. I refused the return, he then accused me of swapping books in the CGC holder. I told him that is impossible, told him to take pictures of the slab where he felt the slab was compromised. He never responded and when ebay did their investigation they sided with the buyer in under one minute, I doubt a human looked at it.

Pretty much going through the same thing but over a piece of electronics.Buyer said it wouldn't work but he sent it back in pieces.I said I would not issue a refund and haven't heard back from buyer or ebay.Looked at their feed back and red for days.As a seller and left for others.

Toolhaus is your friend and I wished I had used it.

Ebay can freeze my account.I have zero dollars in there.Totally sick of their games.

Good luck going forward.

And when all the top sellers leave the Bay many people will be scratching their heads trying to figure out why. Not rocket science. You have to have an environment where both buyer and seller have rights. A one sided community will eventually fail.

Here are the dynamics behind selling on ebay. Most must use paypal. It's the way most buyers want to pay. It's the way I want to pay because I know that if a seller doesn't perform and deliver the item, I'm covered. Period.

When you register to accept payments through paypal, you must sign their user agreement, and agree to all the terms in that user agreement. You don't click on the icon "I accept", and your registration process is null and void. You must accept the user agreement.

This user agreement allows them to do exactly whatever they want to do. These things that they can do are stated in the language of the agreement and you are agreeing to abide by these potential paypal actions. Paypal is not a bank. Not a credit card company, and they are not bound by the regulatory laws that govern banks and CC companies. You are giving them permission to do whatever they please that is stated in the agreement by signing and agreeing to these conditions is mandatory if you want to have a paypal account. Temporary freezes, 180 day freezes, termination without any reason whatsoever, maybe even the nature of what you are selling. Paypal may decide they don't want to accept payment for you for certain merchandise, or even things like political affiliation and social issues, as has been suggested by many youtubers who have had their paypal accounts terminated apparently withut reason.

So take it for what it's worth, and this is why when I sell, I go Link, heritage, and Connect and spare myself the uncertainty of paypal. Sign up for paypal, and any losses by accepting paypal is leakage. Part of the business of selling on ebay, and agreeing to let them do whatever it is they do to you is necessary to have the account. You give them permission to do what they want with your money when you register and agree to the user agreement.

Did anyone with a problem actually CALL ebay? I did when I had a claim go against me and they overruled the Decision. I explained the whole issue using their rules. It did take about an hour but I felt it was worth it.

My former boss called ebay with problems like this once a week and always got it resolved in his favor, which was always fair in the first place.

Calling seems to work...and not dealing with email. And ebay can see all of the messages sent if you kept them @showcase4  maybe give them a call.

@Buzzetta can tell you this is true as well :foryou: best of luck :)

@showcase4 you have to call ebay.  Messaging them does absolutely nothing.  Them guys in the Phillipines dont like reading stuff.  866-540-3229

I've only had success by calling them.  You have to explain your case.  Its interesting because the few times I've had to call I've had the same person.

I wouldn’t believe it if you guys told me - just happened again! Twice in 1 day! Sale from 2 weeks ago ( pics ) - buyer said my 9.8 was accurate, but he found a hairline pink printing defect on one of the 2 covers - they just froze that money, too! Over $400 today !
