Thanks for the images.  I did send them to the team.  The person who made the comment now realized he was mistaken due to getting the images mixed up.  I am waiting for one more person to chime in.

Thanks very much Mike. According to my records, the Royal Blues disappeared from the census on 10/4/22 without explanation. I have a theory about why but I’d like to hear the official word first.

Both books are Vengeance of Vampirella #1, and neither have the common green cover. The legend goes that 100 of the royal blue VoV #1s were made before the multitude of greens were. I don’t know what they looked at but it wasn’t the links above. Please ask again if you could. Thanks Mike!

Ok, this is what I was told this morning from one of our senior graders.  We were waiting for our database specialist to chime in but, he has been swamped with work.

"We’re going to recreate the Royal Blue variant. They’re obviously two different kinds of foil, so let’s just put them back in that way."

From our database specialist:

Looking into the history of this book (apparently the blue foil edition was not authorized and was an error), I think I understand how the two versions got confused in our database and merged together.

As they are obviously different from each other, they should be separated in our database.  I have created an entry for a "Second Printing/Blue Foil Edition". And the two examples listed here in this email have been changed over to that new entry.

This is good news, thanks Mike!

However, there were several mistakes made by CGC regarding which is a royal blue and which is a green. I have a list of registry numbers for actual royal blues that I’ve seen (5 at the moment) as well as greens that were listed as blue (3 at the moment). They have to be incredibly careful with what they put into this new entry. The best way to tell the difference is to always have one of the more common green covers on hand. The difference is clear when they’re side-to-side.

Any info you can present to me that will help keep the database accurate, would be greatly appreciated.  This will also help us to keep it accurate going forward.

I'm going to assume that the left is Royal Blue and the right is Green. I realize that seems obvious, but I've been trying to figure out what version I have the foil really lightens up and looks almost aqua at certain angles. I know which one I hope it is, but I'm just not close enough to this issue to know for sure. I'd appreciate anyone's expertise here. Thanks!

The pics above tell me that it is indeed a blue foil edition. Did it come with a COA?

No COA that I remember seeing. But I’ll look again. This book, a gold foil version of VoV1, and a blue foil version of Vampirella Zero all came in a short box of random horror books I picked up from Heritage a few years back. Just stumbled on them again the other day, started doing some research, and here we are.
