Mickey7
Anyone following tonight's Hakes auctions? They always have an nice assortment of collectibles. The artwork that stood out to me was the Marvel Star Wars #3 page by Chaykin. It sold for $26,000 + 18% buyers premium. Sideshow Bob
Michael Browning
More than $33,000 with the fees. That’s a strong result. Hakes does well with Star Wars. I was wanting it, but fell asleep, and when I woke up, it was way out of reach.

No one like Frazetta. exitmusicblue
ESeffinga
I have always loved that Blazing Combat cover. Certainly not the look or style most are used to seeing from Fraz, and when one says his name, it's not the first piece to spring to mind. All that said, at it's core, it has all the power and muscularity of the most in your face Fritz pieces. I wish there were more of this style floating around out there. More angular and blocky, and less softer lines. VERY comicbook. exitmusicblue and lb jefferies

K, just looked Holy c r a p! I had a bunch of these as a kid! I remember opening them on Christmas morning sometime in the late 60's and loved them! Long gone, and certainly never mint in box once the presents were unwrapped. Anyone know what year these came out specifically? Everything you said is spot on, and I would take this over many of his more prominent and lush pieces. This cover is BRUTAL and BEAUTIFUL, all at the same time. exitmusicblue and ESeffinga 1
ESeffinga
I forgot to mention, those thumbnails on the same board, around the central final piece are also worth their weight in visual gold!

Anyone know what year these came out specifically? I have a Captain Action and Dr Evil not in the box, Captain Action is mint, complete but Dr Evil isn’t. Got them from a comic book shop in Phoenix at a Sunday sale they were having, $20 each with $25% off so the pair cost me $30 before tax. I also snagged a Batman outfit on the card off an auction back in the 90s. Still have them aardvark88
Shemp
Only one piece interested me and I won it. On the other hand, I only half heartily bid on one piece in the Comiclink auction and didn't bother bidding on the other 3 items I was interested in.
