Every time I have a really hard moment on my life
I come back to this pages for inspiration.

Even today they talk to me in difficult times...

I want to buy these from Mike one day. The gold standard of the Silver Age.

That was my 1st early Spiderman, purchased from Mile High Comics in Fort Collins, Colorado.  Sadly sold it many years later ...  Still looking for a nice copy to buy.

Mine was issue 69 the wonderful Kingpin battle. # 18 was my first sixties issue.

Super recent, but both of these nearly made me gasp. The Mephisto page from Thanos #16 is probably my most memorable page flip.

Thanos #16, Page 4 (tight).jpg

Tradd Moore certainly capturing our attention of late. Mephisto so menacing drawn with a dark expertise. I don’t know a lot about these two stories would love to hear more.

Death of Belit

I saw the cover on the spinner rack and thought,”there’s no way in hell!”

Sigh

Black Adler owns the original art cover. You can see it on His CAF. John Buscema and Ernie Chan.

Sold mine also, the entire 1-20 run. I likely won’t replace that run but 18 always will be a special issue for me.

You should read them! First is from Silver Surfer: Black and the second is from Thanos Wins. Even if you're not a Donny Cates fan, the art in both is phenomenal.

Those reprint books of the 70's don't get enough credit for creating nostalgia.

They don't. They were critical in exposing people to classics before the age of the internet. My first encounter with 'Tec #395 was that very same Dynamic Classics #1. And my first exposure to Neal's art was, I believe, the reprint of #408 from issue #477.

The summer of 1986, Daredevil issue 232...I was 13 years old.  My ritual,  that entire summer,  was to ride my bike to town to pick up comics at the local five and dime. I'd return home with my loot,  drenched in sweat,  and  park myself in my parents bedroom. The air conditioning window unit set to "max".

I was partial to Marvel, over DC. Marvel comics felt more "adult" (I was 13 years old, after all,  and not a kid anymore!). Nothing I'd read in comics felt more real than what Kingpin was putting Matt through and nothing shocked me more than the murder of nurse Lois. The scene in the prison cell is,  to this day, some of the best sequential storytelling.

I read issue 232 and subsequent issue 233, every day,  all summer long... the issue really stayed with me.

PS still looking to buy Daredevil Born Again original art 🤑Daredevil_Vol_1_232.jpg.39478dcc332c8e796500e6ba74405925.jpg

My ritual too, great memories! Alas comics were The Devil in my home, so I had to sneak them in under the ol' t-shirt and definitely was not reading them anywhere but my room. This done more furtively even than checking out those Playboys pulled from an abandoned tree-house in the woods!

I was trying to piece together the entire sequence from FF 40, where Reed turns Ben back into the Thing, who doesn't want to go back to being a freak, and in his rage, plows through weapon after weapon until he finally gets his mitts on Doom...... I sold these off a few years back to help fund a lifestyle change, but here's the OA sequence I had at the time.

For me, this is so similar to the Ditko Spidey 33 sequence. Fighting through all odds out of sheer determination.

One of my favorite stories and definitely some of my favorite pages! I Wish you could’ve kept them but I understand how things happen.
