converseba 3 posts Posted November 16 Just got notification from CCS that a GA book I got decades ago has been trimmed, had some color work done and had other restoration done. My untrained eye had no idea. Question: should I go ahead and have it graded? My inclination is yes since it’s a GA book with a Cap/Bucky cover (u.s.a. Comics 14) and fewer than 30 graded copies, including one restored version, but since I’m somewhat new to grading, I wanted to get some opinions. Ironically, even with whatever was done to it, i can’t imagine it’s going to fall above a 4.
oldrover 972 posts Posted November 18 If I were you, I would. The trimming is the killer on a lower-grade book. You might have a shot at removing color touch or tear seals... but to misquote James Bond, "Trimming is forever." That said, get it graded anyway. You'll still get more for it than you would a non-slabbed restored book. IMHO. 1 Krismusic reacted to this
converseba 3 posts Posted November 18 @oldrover, appreciate your analysis. That was where I was leaning, so definitely nice to know it's a reasonable option (and I'm not entirely insane). Thanks! We'll see how it all turns out...
theCapraAegagrus 8,712 posts Posted November 18 I'd get it graded. Nothing wrong with restored comic books. 1 greggy reacted to this
