If only real life was like a comic book:  He makes that idiotic statement, you feel yourself becoming enraged, and being enraged you start turning green... gaining mass and muscle...becoming an all-powerful furious behemoth that unleashes his full wrath on the surroundings.  Eventually the store is leveled, your anger subsides, and you walk out somewhat dazed (but satisfied) as the owner sputters "You...you trashed my store!"  To which the correct reply of course is:  "You're gonna' let that bother you?"

doesn't everyone? Attended first comic con in 35 years and walk by his table and he starts yelling at me that I'm collecting comic wrong, all the while he's half doing and sketch and half eating a hamburger which is dripping onto the sketch. I honestly thought he was clinicly nuts.

Ah classic Adams....

A1 comics does brisk business has lots of old books and not a museum by any means.

I have yet to see a comic book store that can compete with online sellers.  “But they have....

“schtaaaaaaaap.”

If you are patient then eventually it will come up at auction or someone has it... That comic I just showed you, I have had on my alert list on eBay for over four years.

The right book came up at the right price this month.

Personally, I see brick and mortar comic stores as antiquated and dead.  Some of them just do not know it yet.

This.

They refuse (most) to evolve as the genre has evolved. Like proffessional athletes who play past their prime.

almost went to sacremento. is that where A1 is. Kav? I've bought online from them. I would seek them out. I don't believe all comic stores are dead, many are of course. What I don't have that I had when I was younger: time. time to explore this place or that place. and that's how you find the cool spots in this town or that town.

And that is the benefit of Ebay and other online platforms, that help you. If these LCS weren't so stubborn and evolved by putting their stuff online than they wouldnt be dying off in droves. It's understandable that they have alot of overhead costs and that would be alleviated by an increase in sales when they broaden their net by selling online, also you can prevent comments like the theme of this thread.

That being said, the LCS guy who responded to you in the manner he did reminds me of some of the guys on this site and their responses.

Hope your back is way better now.

Was waiting for The Redhead at Bob Hope Airport in Burbank, Ca and had some time to kill and found a new comic shop (to me) on Magnolia Blvd. that had some back issues, but mostly stuff for the Funko crowd.

Owner asked what I was looking for, said the Claremont X-men stuff, you know,  94 - 143. He pulled out a raw 118. There was a huge crease in the lower right corner that broke color and I said thanks but no thanks.

"Why?"

"Not a fan a the giant crease there," pointing to giant ugly crease.

"Oh, you're gonna let that bother you?"

I thought that was such an odd thing to say. Yeah it bothers me and I'm sure you were the first to point it out when you bought it from whomever you did. Owners buddy (?), employee (?) piped in, "Yeah that wouldn't bother me and tried to make me feel stupid for, I dunno, caring about condition. Walked out never to return.

Good luck with the Funkos, pal.

There’s a lot of LCS owners who will take advantage if they can . you were smart to walk away

That's because you have never been to A1.
