Eventually the store is leveled, your anger subsides, and you walk out somewhat dazed (but satisfied) as the owner sputters "You...you trashed my store!" I don't believe all comic stores are dead,many are of course. And that is the benefit of Ebay and other online platforms, that help you. If these LCS weren't so stubborn and evolved by putting their stuff online than they wouldnt be dying off in droves. It's understandable that they have alot of overhead costs and that would be alleviated by an increase in sales when they broaden their net by selling online, also you can prevent comments like the theme of this thread. That being said, the LCS guy who responded to you in the manner he did reminds me of some of the guys on this site and their responses. Hope your back is way better now.
