Looking for what people think, might send it in to get graded.

What I see is Spine Stress/Creasing, Corner/Edge Wear/Creasing and a Small Piece Missing from the Top of the Back Cover.

Overall IMO...

4.0 VERY GOOD (VG):  Back to Top
The average used comic book. Cover shows moderate to significant wear, and may be loose but not completely detached. Cover reflectivity is low. Can have moderate creases or dimples. Corners may be blunted. Store stamps, name stamps, arrival dates, initials, etc. have no effect on this grade. Some discoloration, fading, foxing, and even minor soiling is allowed. As much as a 1/4" triangle can be missing out of the corner or edge; a missing 1/8" square is also acceptable. Only minor unobtrusive tape and other amateur repair allowed on otherwise high grade copies. Moderate spine roll may be present and/or a 1" spine split. Staples may be discolored. Minor to moderate staple tears and stress lines may be present, as well as some rust migration. Paper is brown but not brittle. Minor to moderate interior tears may be present. Centerfold may be loose or detached at one staple.

Thank you for the very informative reasoning for the VG grade.  I was thinking it is a 3.5 to 4.0.

It is informative reasoning. Sound reasoning that I'm not in total disagreement with. But the flip side here is that I've seen what I would consider quite a few downright ugly Avengers 1s graded in the 4.0 range. This book appears to have far better color, centering, edges, and in general a superior appearance from the standpoint of overall quality than the typical Avengers 1 CGC graded 4.0. It's a very attractive book, and IMO, this scores a 5.0 at CGC. I would submit it and evaluate for a press. It's definitely worthwhile.

Based on having owned a bunch of books CGC called 4.0s, I'd go with a 5.0.

I agree the book presents very well, however, I was on the fence about the grade and when I am in doubt I always go with the lower grade.

Keeping my  for you that it does come back at a VG/FN 5.0.

With the amount of wear it does exhibit, not only does it have nice eye appeal going for it, appeal well in excess of the typical 4.0, but without chips, stains, or major tears and defacements, it's a 5.0 all the way, and in the highly unlikely event that it draws a 4.0 or 4.5, you'll get equivalent 5.0 to 5.5 sales results if you run it on ebay, on a non-Holiday/non-Holiday weekend Sunday night in an open, no reserve auction. It'll draw a lot of action, with clear, large images, whether graded 4.0 or 5.0.

But I'm fairly certain that a 5.0 is in the cards.

I agree with this. My Avengers 1 looked very similar to your book...

Okay, other than the tearing on the back cover, would you rather have the multiple color-breaking creases in the top right front cover, or the "Marvel chipping" from the graded book above? I'd rather have the creases. And even at a possible 4.0, I'd still slab it.

I do agree with the folks here that recommend a clean and press for this book. I see quite a few non color breaking bends and dents that could be eliminated, which should help boost the grade. Good luck!
