Up to 200 8' vendor's tables full of comics, graphic novels, pop culture, and sports cards at Harbour Convention Centre (ex-Edgewater Casino) in downtown 760 Pacific Ave, Vancouver, BC, Canada on Sunday Feb. 9, 2020. The promoter is trying to confirm Vancouver Canuck superstar Elias Pettersson (the 'Swedish Gretzky') as one of the top sports signing guests of honor. I was told each vendor table is $125. If a vendor consigns 5 lots to their internet and live comic/sports card auction, table rate reduced to $100 plus GST tax. Corporate sponsors include Upper Deck Sports Cards, Canuck Auctions (online), and Tazmanian Comics. Website is in preliminary stages and still being updated with guests, auction, and vendor info. New comic and sports collectibles downtown Vancouver, BC event

Event date is about 1 week before Fan Expo Vancouver.

A wide variety of comics and other collectibles will be available:

More inside info:

Their website should be updated Wed. Dec. 11, 2019. I was told vendor's tables are 7' x 30 inches. Vendor expected to consign 5 decent quality lots to their auction which will be displayed on 2nd floor where media guests will be signing. (e.g. Hank Azzaria (voice actor Simpsons), Lynda Carter (Wonder Woman and Supergirl tv series) plus Van Canucks. Vendors may remit payment via PayPal, e-transfer or Visa /MasterCard since the promoters have a brick n mortar outlet (enter unit #3 via alley entrance). They have presold about 160 tables including my wall table reservation at $100. 10' x 10' full size booths $500 for sponsers like Upper Deck, Wiser's Collectibles warehouse and perhaps Taz Comics. Corner location means 2 x 7' tables for $200. Cafe and Frederico's Catering available.

Pay to park. Loading zone is not covered from the rain. Their long term goal is to grow show in this format to 2 days and go on rotation to Kelowna, Calgary perhaps Victoria, BC, Canada.

Well, if this is true, then they really need to get an move on as there's only about 5 weeks left until show time and their website still appears to be pretty blank.

No actual times listed except for the February 9th date and worse of all, still no ticket pricing information at all as far as I can tell.  In addition, if they already have 160 tables presold, they should at least have a list of vendor names on their website for these 160 tables.  doh!

Certainly hope they can get their act together in time, as  the Fan Expo that is scheduled for the following weekend seems to be pretty devoid of many actual true comic book dealers.

General admission is $20 per Great Canadian Collectors's updated website: media guest signings $

I truly hope FEV can break last year's record of 3.5 comic dealers with Todd as part of their improved guest list.

All I can say is what's the point of paying big dollars to go to a comic book convention when there are really even no comic book dealers there.  doh!

We've made a number of changes to the event based on feedback from the local dealers re: booth sizing and some alternative booth pricing options at Fan Expo Vancouver.

It's not like we don't want vendors to be there, we certainly spend money on guests we feel will appeal to the local audience of fans and collectors, and people do come out for the show and are disappointed by the low number of comics vendors - which = lost opportunities to the vendors who decided not to go.

All I can say is support as many local cons as you can. So far Eegabeeva from Victoria, BC and local collector/dealers FanBoy, Wiser's Collectibles warehouse, Errol, and myself will be vending comics.

8' vendor's tables (not 6') cost $105 ($100 plus gst). Sat. Feb. 8, 2020 dealer set up. Supposed to be only 1 chair /table but they will set aside 3 for my 2 side by side wall tables. Dic k from Victoria will be selling there and has consigned a golden age comic already. There is also an actor/actress from TV sci-fi's 'The 100' that has just wrapped so s/he will be signing at the Show.

I consigned 3 no reserve lots (framed 'The 100' tv sci-fi cast of 13 signatures, 3 SA low grade Marvels (X-men, Tales Astonish, Avengers), and mixed lot of 5 Marvel  Presents Guardians of Galaxy and Static #1, poly #1, #2 origin comics). There are also some high end sports cards consigned. e.g. Gretzky rookie Opeechee card slabbed 9.5 out of 10,  and 1955 set of Parkhurst hockey slabbed 9.5 and 10.0 out of 10 high grade and valued over $135,000.00.

Sunday Feb. 9, 2020 admission $20 can be purchased now through Eventbrite site.

To offset the $20 admission, this convention is offering to the first 1,000 collector/fans a $25 gift card for the Pint pub in Gastown near Abbott St and West Pender St. so you can get your burger, chicken wings and/or a beer. Joe Kiethley (sp?) from the Vancouver new wave band D.O.A. will be signing. Restocked back issues:

the $20 admission

Since they are charging the rather hefty sum of $20 for gate admission for this one here or the same amount as the CalComicCon last weekend with all of the great dealers down there, what's the chance that we will even see a single one of them up here next Sunday?  This convention here is starting to look a bit similar to the Fan Expo that will be coming the week after, albeit a bit more sports related.  hm

Just wondering since they still don't seem to have a list of the comic book vendors that will be showing up for this one here?  ???

Hoping that the show will run good this weekend. Really had no idea how it will be like ... being that it is the first time for me.

Had informed to my friends about the $25 gift card offer on admission and auction house. Wishing all the luck on the show!

Great Canadian has added prizes of pairs of Vancouver Canucks hockey tickets. Their online and live Canuck Auction for Sun. Feb. 9, 2020 is accepting bids NOW. Over 95% of the lots have NO reserve so one may be able to scoop up some vintage comics, mags and signed collectibles for a bargain price. Good luck to  all.

There are about 3 parking lots that one may use for Great Cdn Collectors Show that are south of Parq Casino close to the small False Creek ferry that goes to/from Granville Island. Sunday parking about $15.

Interior shot of about 1/3 of the convention space. Dark, as full lights not turned on until Sunday Feb. 9/20 of the Show. Seems to be about 12,000 sq feet downstairs and about 8,000 sq ft upstairs for the internet/live Sunday collectibles auction plus extra space for the comedy theater stage show.

Fan Boy and his loyal side kick have expanded to 3 dealer's tables with red table cloths to celebrate year of the rat. I have tables with black table cloths.

Comic Scene from Surrey should also be there with at least 2 dealer's tables of comics, mag, records. Easiest way to get to Harbour Event Ctr is northbound on Cambie St bridge then turn East to Pacific Ave 1 way street to parking lots or take skytrain/bus to the GM Place Dome then walk south a few blocks passed Parq Casino. Hope to see you all there.

How was the Show?

Teething problems as first show. Auction live preview that was supposed to be open to public at 9 a.m. was not open til noon due to late set up and security. Lots of traffic problems Grt Cdn could not control. Cambie St. bridge closed in early morning for half marathon run which made dealers late to get to con to finalize set up. Then Cambie St. and Broadway closed for 3 days due to native Indian protests against pipeline. Hastings St at Clark Ave closed for 2.5 day native Indian protest forcing traffic onto E. 1st Ave that plugged cars getting to/from convention. Parking that should have been max $16 was $20 due to boat show next door at the Dome, and previous Canuck hockey game on Sat.

greggy made out like a mad dog scooping up comics from a fresh collection I directed him too. Some of the comics I saw or heard that sold included ASM #300 nm, Conan #1, 3 nm, 21, # 24 nm, Kid Eternity #5 fn-, Rudolph, ASM #110 nm-, SA GL vf/nm, Fawcett vg-, WDCS Donald Ducks vg- and lots of $1-$2 blow out comics.

Was told previous week's Abby con on Superbowl Sunday is getting better for retail sales too. Comics and vintage toys are hot:
