Thanks brother!!! Dang man let’s track it down!! I think the boom of the internet with ebay and all the other auctions sites of course has definitely shed a light on what is truly hard to find/rare nowadays. I am sure you have only seen a handful of copies since maybe some of the same copy more than once but still it’s a tough one in any grade. Appreciate it my friend!!

All 3 picked up off of ebay. 1 at a con, 1 from a dealer at his apartment, and 1 from cgc boards. Green labels do not affect story (spidey) but did affect my ability to purchase

in 2020 I'm going for ff48, and 12, as well as jim 85.

Even though I don’t have anything to contribute I always look forward to this thread, which celebrates and reinforces just how incredibly diverse our shared interest is, and just as much pride and connection gets expressed regardless of whether a boardie posts a Golden Age rarity, a modern J Scott Campbell comic, a page of original art or a Warren magazine, or any of the other myriad options available to us.         

It’s exactly this variety that has kept me fascinated with the medium for over 40 years now.

I am going with these as my top 3.

1. Weird Science #9, first Wally Wood cover for EC.

2. Star Spangled War Stories #93. Tied for top of the census with 1 other and a total of 10 graded.

3. Thanos #13 variant, first appearance of Cosmic Ghost Rider.

Earlier this year, I decided to solely focus on my ASM 1-40 run.  I’m not an OCD collector where everything has to be in the same grade or have same PQ. I just try and find books with eye appeal better than the grade so I don’t break the bank.   I bought 5 books total this year.  Here’s my “Top 3”:

ASM 5:  bit of a sunshadow on this one that’s slightly distracting but, structurally really nice.

 

 

Next is Spidey 8.  There’s a light pencil circle on the cover that brings the grade down.  At first, I thought it was a stain, but it’s definitely pencil.  My “least favorite” book of the single digit Ditko’s but, I need it to complete the run at some point.  The colors are really nice and I thought the value was there.

 

 

Last, but not least, is this 28.  Probably my favorite of the bunch as it’s very much a mid-grade copy that presents much higher than the grade.  Usually this book will look pretty busted with spine stress/color breaks except in the higher grades.  This one looks much higher grade than it actually is.

Wonderworld Comics #31 from Nov. 1941  - This book is one of the rarest superhero comics in existence. I had looked for a copy for years. There are still only 4 total copies on the census and that includes a 0.5, this 2.0, a 2.5, then Jon Berks 9.0 so other that JBs the highest is a 2.5 and this book just tickles me pink every time I look at it. Presents very nicely and has gorgeous pages. To me personally it is a phenomenal cover as well which is one of the reasons I know it is truly a rare specimen as more copies would surely get subbed. If you look at the issues around this one they usually come in around 10-15 copies subbed. A true golden age rarity and one that I cherish. She's a keeper no doubt.

I didn't pick up any major keys this year like in past years, but I did get some classic covers I've been after. In order of my favorite:

1. Captain America Comics #27 - Awesome Schomburg WWII cover

2. Detective Comics #153 - 1st solo Batman cover since Detective Comics #37

3A. (Tie) Weird Science #13 - classic UFOs over Washington DC cover

3B. Black Magic #44 - Aliens and Ghost Hitler, WTF?
