I don’t have pictures, but about 35 years back, I upgraded my Avengers #1 from an absolute rag to a nice, qualified vg. I say qualified not because it was slabbed so (didn’t exist then), but because it was a vg except for a two inch piece of scotch tape in the middle of the cover. I lived with it until a dealer friend strongly urged me to let a friend of Bob Beerbohm remove the tape for me.

The guy botched it so badly that I cannot quite describe it. He must have used half a bottle of white out. He redrew, free hand, with a sharpie; the date, price and number.

Anyway, my dealer friend felt so bad about it that he took the comic and replaced it with a strong, unqualified, unrestored vg+ Avengers 1. For free.

Wow there are others with similar stories as holly, hopefully if in that situation, either I as seller or the seller to me does the same ^^

I'm boring. I surf places that sell comics,  and when i see an upgrade, I buy it. I don't necessarily hunt.

While I make friendly acquaintances, I don't really feel I'm "meeting" anyone. I've met only 2 people from here, but not over sales.

It's great completing a goal, but not as exciting as it used to be. Sometimes it just feels like a high fever dropping a  degree before rising by 2. Trying to get my list checked off before some spec drives it to silly levels isn't my idea of a fun race. It was better when books got hot because of what happens in the book, not over a film that reinvents the character into something that barely resembles the character in the comic.

All this so my heirs can throw 'em on eBay

This.
