How are the commissioning efforts that you mentioned going?  It seems like 2020 would've been pretty good for opportunities on that front, given the fact that most all of the big cons were cancelled.

Well interestingly enough, nothing was happening all year. Then all of a sudden since August everything started piling in at a faster pace than ever. So much so that if I wait a few weeks for my final report, I may have another couple finished commissions in my hands.

I haven't gotten any of my goals, the opportunities I have had I have lost out to a certain golden age art collector. I last one in Clink but I think that will go out of my range. Always 20121.

Almost the some goals than in 2019 :

- A nice X-Men/Batman/Spider-Man page

Well, I bought two pages featuring Batmen (the main universe one and the one from Earth 2, not yet on my CAF)

Quote

- A Perez/Davis/Wieringo page

I had opportunities, but nothing I liked enough within my budget.

Quote

- A Crossgen (Negation or Ruse) or Wildstorm (Majestic, StormWatch, Wildcats, Jet, Gen-Active ...) page

I found a small Gen13 OA for a trading card !

Quote

- A comic strip

Three comic strips by Mike Roy, including one featuring Nero Wolfe, one of my favorite detectives

Quote

- A page from a fumetti and one from a manga,

Three manga pages came home (one is already on CAF).

Quote

- Frame some pieces,

- Maybe commission a piece or two (that would be a first for me)

No framing, no commissioning, although I may pull the trigger soon ... (I payed for a small remarque by Bob McLeod, though)

One of my goals is to see if I can have published OA purchases almost nonexistent in 2020. If I pick up anything I would hope it would either be a very key piece to me, or else something smaller that is relatively cheap. But these last couple years I've not only filled a lot of the holes in the collection I was looking to fill, but I want my time and money spent elsewhere.

I would like to see maybe at least 6 or more commissions completed for my big GOTG fan project. The more the better. Art wise, that is my main focus.

...so I did purchase some published art in 2020, but not a lot. Six pieces. A couple of them were key to me (the big one being a silver age Infantino Flash page that had Sid Greene inks. Very tough to find pages from that run). One of the pieces I only picked up as I won it at auction for way less than I figured it would go for. Happy with what I picked up through the year. I could have bought less, but then again I probably avoided buying a bunch that I didn't really "need".

I didn't think I would get much done in the way of my commission project, but in the last few months things started happening and I got seven pieces finished (two not in hand quite yet). Very happy with those results.

I think I can honestly say, 2020 was the 1st year where I completely nailed my goal. :acclaim:

:applause: But with your life now being complete, where do you go from here???

I always say I won’t by as much and then fail but moving to a bigger place and wedding in 2021 I will be more likely not go as crazy with purchases.

For 2020 I would be happy with two trading card paintings and a Star Wars painting.

I could be wrong but I think I only bought one piece of art this year!

Discipline in action!  Congrats.  Was a card art piece or Star Wars painting that you had on your radar, or something that just popped up and caught your eye unexpected?

Actually, I might have to add one more goal to the list - now that I recently bought my first Kaluta piece (to add to my Jeff Jones and BWS pieces), I probably need to get a good Wrightson piece to replace the Frankie plate I sold to help finance a property purchase this year so I can complete my "The Studio" collection.  Though, the timetable on that is open-ended; it doesn't have to be something I get in 2020. Showbox   jiofi.local.html  tplinklogin

It was card art. It wasn’t one on my radar but it was a character I had been wanting the past few years and the card came out this year. I didn’t wind up liking most of the art from the set, so it was a cheap art year for me.
