Has a book previously been pressed?

CGC doesn't do pressing. They don't know who delivered the books and all submissions are anonymously graded.

While true, the pressing group CCS is housed under the same roof(s) and is part of the same parent company, and so it would be physically and operationally possible to have books pressed by CCS be graded anonymously yet noted as such afterwards by CGC (either in notes or on the label itself), but they've chosen not to do so.

Namisgr is correct.  It would be very easy for CGC to note any and all work done by CCS on the label.  Unfortunately, they chose not to do so, in all probability, because it is less profitable for them to disclose pressing in particular.  Currently, there are many thousands of books that have been pressed multiple times as each owner has attempted to “maximize” the grade given by CGC.  Each time CGC gets paid again for grading fees, each time pressing services get paid again for pressing.  The result for many of us is to just assume that any book that’s in a CGC case has been pressed with all that entails.  2c

I imagine they do it already with books that have had other forms of restoration work by CCS.
