Write the Sequel - Please for the Love of God - Let's Keep this a Star Wars Free Thread.

So the idea is to write the sequel that has never existed or do the soft reboot.

So for example:

The Goonies:

The principal cast from the original meet up for some type of town historical anniversary. Their children are bored spending time with their families when they suddenly discover and open a box commemorating their parent's adventures as the Goonies. The children of the Goonies get involved in some type of misadventure that their parents never figured out while their parents, led by Sean Astin, have to 'find them'.

The parents have to come to grips with their children coming of age as their kids become more independent as teenagers and the teenagers begin to realize that their parents are not the old boring people they thought they were.

Have fun with this...

The Thing:

MacReady is still alive years later, was saved by a rescue team. Lost a few fingers due to frost bite. Has a tough life as a part time Helicopter pilot and a truck driver. Goes about his business. On the radio he hears about a "missile crash" in the desert outside of Las Vegas where he currently lives. Casualties are unknown but are numerous and no one is allowed in the area.  He listens to a conspiracy radio channel on the radio talking about aliens.

Debates about it back and forth....Decides to head out there and check things out. A couple of old trucker friends who he only knows on the radio with routes nearby join him.

(Dark Horse did a cool comic series also on this)

LOGLINE:

Scanners 2020:

Scanners are quietly alive and among us, collaborating, controlling our schools, institutions, and companies to their benefit.

A few internet leaks (dismissed as doctored conspiracy jobs) have put the scanners on the defensive, and they proceed to violently wipe out a slowly burgeoning resistance.

One powerful Scanner has evolved to have emotions and sympathy. She secretly exposes and turns on her masters, leading the dwindling resistance of non Scanners.

All mankind is at stake as the most powerful Scanners literally go on an explosive head to head showdown.

P.S. There were sequels, I hope a newer, novel sequel is ok.

Justice League: The Darkseid War

Steppenwolf returns to Apokolips via boom tube - to Darkseid's feet. Before his groveling can even begin, he's killed by omega beams. He takes a very brief look through the tube to see a triumphant Justice League - taking quick note of the planet he's about to invade before the portal closes.

The Flash and Superman are finishing their race. With Kent in the lead, Allen turns on the afterburners, unknowingly opening up a time rift via the Speed Force. He ends up in the reality that Bruce Wayne envisioned in Dawn of Justice. It reaches a point in which he encounters Dark Superman. He recognizes Allen as a man he knows is dead, and chases him across the globe, where another rift is exploited. After entering a new and worse reality, he realizes how and why this is happening, and eventually sends the message to Batman as seen before. After the deed is done, he returns to a familiar world, with an unfamiliar and youthful Batman (and a long-retired Bruce Wayne).

Wonder Woman returns to Themyscira to learn more about the war with Uxas - discovering that Steppenwolf is only the beginning to a bigger threat. She prays to gods that no longer exist, training to hone and perfect her New God powers, and leaves with nothing but advice and a heed to stay away from the island to honor the Queen and keep them off of the modern radar.

Aquaman receives a visit from the Martian Manhunter. A legend known to the Atlanteans. Familiar with Steppenwolf and Uxas, he warns of the coming danger. Arthur requests his brother's help in defending the world, which he declines, because of his spite for the walkers and his thought that Darkseid will not threaten the oceans. Upon returning to the surface, he's transforms into General Swanwick.

Batman does some Mother Box stuff with Cyborg under the Hall of Justice. A couple of Green Lanterns (Jordan and Stewart) show up. Shazam shows up. :censored: hits the fan. Alexander Luthor forms an Injustice League. I got bored after that last paragraph.

THEM AGAIN!

(Since Ant-Man is such a hit with the kids, let's bring THEM! back)

The giant ants from the 1950's atomic thriller return but with a new origin. The people of a North Dakota farm/fracking town notice all their Tide Pods are missing from the local supermarket and laundry rooms. We soon find out it's due to a small colony of giant 5 foot long fire ants mutated by chemicals from all the local fracking that's been happening lately. The mut-ants love the taste of Tide Pods but also make them a little crazed, setting them on a dangerous frenzy of destruction. To make matters worse, the fracking chemicals make these oversized insects truly be "on fire", setting ablaze farmers' crops and grasslands, while also making them immune to flame throwers, which is how they were defeated in the first movie. All the while, the ants give off a scent of spring fresh cleanliness. That's how our heroes know they're close.

A young Norwegian-American teenager science nerd/Tide Pod rehab patient figures out a way to defeat the ants with a chemical mixture of Ortho Ant Killer and Downy fabric softener. Features a cameo from Scott Eastwood as the teenager's Chemistry teacher.

Too bad about the lack of success in video games turned movies, but it would be nice to see a Red Dead Redemption video game.

Planescape Torment produced as Anime

Mind-blowing theory! Pokémon GO takes place in the past ...

GONE WITH THE NUCLEAR WIND

A pre and post-apocalyptic remake of the American classic, Gone With the Wind.

Scarlet, a spoiled rich Southern dubutante, lives an idyllic life in her family's home in the gated seaside country club community of Twelve Oaks Plantation in the fictional coastal town of Tara, Georgia. Her life is upended by the start of World War III. The draft is reinstated, taking the youth of America to war, including Scarlet's childhood love, Ashley Wilkes and the wealthy yet handsome troublemaker, Rhett Butler. Her way of life is forever changed when a nuclear strike hits Atlanta, GA, laying waste to most of the state, including Tara. Scarlet must pick up the pieces of her family's life and find a way to survive in this post-apocalyptic wasteland once known as Georgia.
