2020 "THIS SCORE NEEDS FIXIN" REQUESTS

This is the place to request that scores in the CGC Registry competitive scores be evaluated. You may have slight disagreements with scores, but some of those slight disagreements just boil down to a judgment call. What we're looking for here are clearly incorrect scoring examples. Please provide links, sales histories or any other data that may be helpful in making the appropriate changes to the score.

When making requests, please use full title of the book and publish date. There have been so many reboots, I just want to make sure that we are looking at the same book.

I understand that you are anxious to have you scores updated, but let's take this slow. Start with the key issues that irk you most and need the attention the most.

Please try to avoid request like "Update all scores in X-Men (1963)." While I agree, some of these type of requests will be valid, I would like to focus on single book upgrades that are grossly under valued in points and less of the 700-800 books need to go up one point. Multiple people, requesting 700-800 all at once, is only going to clog the pipe. I am not saying "no" to these type of requests. I am just asking if we can hold off for a bit.

*Posts that have been edited after the original posting date will now be skipped and not revisited. Meaning, if you add more to your request at a later date, I will not fulfill it. Your request will be ignored and you need to resubmit your request. In short, don't try to skip others. I'm hip to it. Don't do it.  Make a new post for your new requests, don't add to the old one.

***If the score simply has a “0” just PM me and I will fix it.****

Thank you for your patience and participation in the registry!

@Matt G

Hi Matt,

how about starting with all the 2019 requests in the 2019 fix scores thread ?

Happy New Year.

Hello, The new thread was started to avoid 2020 requests from being lumped into the 2019 thread. The score adjustments for 2019 are on my short list to tackle

Very well then. I'll get this thread started.

Matt, the registry scores to Detective 28 need to be adjusted upwards of a 4X multiplier.

Jan 2020: 5.0 sold for 41K (MyComicShop) - soon to show up on GPA -> 5.0 currently has 15,000 points allocated.

That same copy sold in 2015 for $32,500

https://www.comicconnect.com/item/622315

and again in 2018 for 34K

https://www.comicconnect.com/item/759456

A 3.0 sold for 23K in 2019

Thanks.

Score updated. Thank you for providing the sale information

I'd like to request a score adjustment for Adventure Comics 247 (April 1958).

For the last 15 months, GPA has the following data:

Grade     $      Registry          $/Registry

8.5    16200       6700                  2.4
7.5    10200       2500                  4.1
7.0     7200        2100                  3.4
6.5     6201        1500                  4.1
6.0     4535        1330                  3.4
5.5     4900        1200                  4.1

Looks like the midrange should be at least tripled. The high grades (8.5+) have little data but in my mind should be doubled.

Thanks.

Score updated. Thank you

Kid Colt Outlaw 110, First appearance of Iron Mask.

This one is a bit tough, because it doesn't come up for sale too often. Here are the data points

CGC 8.5 $188 10-10, 57 points

CGC 8.0 $210 7-10, 36 points

CGC 7.0 $232 12-16, $18 points

CGC 5.5 $150 6-18, 10 points

CGC 5.0 $125 2-19, 9 points

CGC 1.8 $30, 2-19 2 Points, (Maybe 1?)

The 1.8 was "Incomplete"

I would estimate a 5x bump across the board for Universal copies. I think a Universal 8.0 and 8.5 would both sell for $500+ now.

Thanks!

Score updated. There are not many recent sales so only a slight bump could be done. Thank you

Hello, The score on X-Men #101 was increased to the point that a 9.6 copy of X-Men #94 (6375) is valued less than X-Men #101 (6579). The point value for #101 in 9.6 was increased from 1170 to 6579. Is this correct?

Thanks.

Hello,

Thank you for bringing this to my attention. The current score for X-men #101 (10/76) in a 9.6 was listed at 3759 but I just dropped it to 1250. I am not sure where the numbers were originally pulled from but they were too high. Unfortunately, there are not many recent sales of this book. The UK variant has been more active which makes it more difficult to price. The X-Men #94 will stay the same which is 6375 for a 9.6.

Thanks Matt. I must say you are by far the most reactive Registry Admin to date. Cheers !

Thank you for the kind words. Score significantly increased due to auction data.

Hello again, sorry to be a pest but I just checked and score is still unchanged. The current score for X-men #101 (10/76) in 9.6 is listed at 6579. Im o.k. if this is correct, I'll just add #101 to my want list with #94 and #100. I just want to make sure the score is correct before I do. Thanks.

It seems to be reflecting at this time. It may have taken a bit to update. Please let me know if you are still seeing an error. Thank you

I'm a small fish.... but lol

Nintendo power #1 and #6 both only receive 1 registry point "1?"

I hope @Matt G has GPA, because #1 has sold end of last year for over $1000+ in high grades and $500+ in VF and several at lower grades at $200+, the only data point I can give without gpa...  is this 5.5 and 7.0's

https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_nkw=nintendo+power+1+cgc&_sacat=0&rt=nc&LH_Sold=1&LH_Complete=1

As far as #6 it has Scott Campbell's 1st published art as a contest winner as a kid...

In VF it has sold for $200+

1 registry point is not enough :foryou:

Thank You For Your Consideration  ^^

Both Scores have been updated. Thank you

Please update/adjust the scores for the following FOUR books:

  3. Savage #3 LaRosa Sketch Cover
  4. Savage #4 LaRosa Sketch Cover

Scores Updated. Thank you

Justification:

In a post made on ValiantFans.com in August of 2018, former Valiant Entertainment CEO and Chief Creative Officer Dinesh Shamdasani 100% confirmed the exact printed quantities in circulation for several rare Valiant issues and/or Variants.

With regards to Savage, the following numbers were provided:

Hello Matt,

Please update/adjust the scores for the following book:

Set: Harbinger (1992)

  1. Harbinger: Children of the Eighth Day TP Second Printing

Justification: This book has an estimated print run of 15,000 copies (quite low for the early 1990s) compared to the 150,000 copies of the First Printing that were printed.

To date, only one CGC 9.8 copy has ever been graded and for a very long time it certainly  appeared that a 9.8 would never be found. A 9.4 was graded a while back (sold in 2019 for $165) which was the highest graded copy until a 9.8 was finally graded (after more than two decades) also in 2019.

The only  9.8 was privately sold in the amount of $1,500 in the fall of 2019, and would sell easily today for $2,000 with very little effort.

Hands-down the most difficult of all Harbinger (1992) books to find in high grade.

Can you please provide a link or screenshot to a recent sale? I will need recent sales from reputable sites/auction houses in order to update the score. I have not found any recent sales with my main sources. Thank you

I understand Matt. Thank you for the fast updates.

The 9.8 for this book has only sold once (to me) during a private sale. I do not expect that it will be sold again. I will see what I can find WRT the other sales. Many thanks.

Hello Matt,

I offer for your consideration a bump in scores for the the 1980 Moon Knight Series. Number One through thirty-eight are worth 24 points each while many of the books of that series have been consistently selling for hundreds of dollars (#1, #25 & #29 are on the higher end). The 2006 Moon Knight Series is worth 35 points each and I am wondering why the later series are worth more in points than the original series.

According to GPA

#1 CGC 9.8 2019 average $216

#25 CGC 9.8 2019 average $489 (downward trend)

#29 CGC 9.8 2019 average $422 (upward trend)

#30 CGC 9.8 2019 average $179

Not including the recent speculation on #3, #12 and #14.

I recognize that not all 1980 series Moon Knight books are created equal in terms of what they are selling for, but unless there is some reason I am unaware of I believe they should be worth at least as much as the newer series. I hope you agree. Thank you for your time.

The scores for all books in the set have been updated. Some received a larger increase than others but the whole set has increased. Thank you

Hi Matt

Thank you for the recent updates you've done on review requests. To reiterate Gotham Kid's comments, it's great to have proactive administration of the Registry to ensure it continues to reflect the market.

I'd like to request a few more reviews of Silver & Bronze Age books where Registry points have fallen behind current market values. The books listed below currently have significant or noteworthy disparities and once again I've used the 9.4 Universal Grade as a barometer of relative values for Registry points and latest reported GPA sale prices. I'd be grateful if you could take a look at these when you get opportunity.

Many thanks.

Jon
