Smoke damage protection?

I doubt it smoke gets into everything I bought some books off a friend that smokes had them in bags and boards in a box in the back of the closet and they still smell like smoke... there's no protection from that specially when a non-smoker gets a whiff they will always smell it.

I once saw collectors post about how to remove orders from a comic (a process of placing the book in a sealed bin with baking soda or cat litter)
