Who here tried to collect runs of titles? (Completists) 4 4

I’m guilty, I’ve only completed 1 title That spans over 25 issues...Tomb of Dracula 1-75 with the 5 Annuals (Giant-Size, if you prefer.)

I once was close to having every  12 cent Marvel  but realized I was spending money on books I didn't care for just to complete a goal no one but me cared about. The only long runs I currently have are MOKF, and Legion Adventures.

I have plenty of full runs From minis and early cancelations up to maybe 60-70 issue long runs. Maybe a little more. Not slabbed though

I am currently thinking about creating a run of X-men from 94-268. About five years ago I was making the same attempt but stalled out about halfway. The early books in that run are more expensive than I remember. Issues like 102,103,109,112,126 are getting pricey.

Yeah, I'm a completist. Most of the Marvel titles I collect I have full runs for, with 2 Fantastic Four (1 & 5) and 4 Amazing Spider-Man (1, 3, 9, 14) remaining, so yeah, probably not going to complete THOSE runs. It helps having bought some really pricey books decades ago (Avengers #1, X-Men #1, Amazing Fantasy #15) before things got crazy, and not being a condition freak - most of my collection would be 2.0-5.0 condition.

As a DC collector, it's much harder to be a completist with many titles, so I set a goal of every issue of a title I was interested in that has been published in my lifetime (born in 1962). Recently picked up the last few Batman and Detectives I needed, which leaves me about 10 issues of Wonder Woman.

I guess my longest run would be Action Comics, where I have close to 800 straight issues.

I've got a few completed runs.  Most are lower issue runs, like Nova 1-25, Machine Man 1-19, and the biggest run I've completed to date is Iron Man 1-332 plus annuals.  Deciding on what to work on next, maybe Daredevil or Avengers.  None of my runs are completely graded though.

That comment resonates with me. There's been a few times when I've realised the pursuit of a specific collecting goal meant buying lots of often expensive books that I didn't actually care for. I'm still at it now in a way, but have targeted runs of older books that are less much less expensive and which are really in course just keep me in the hobby. I'm quite enjoying that.

Almost done with bronze age Nova and Invaders.

The rest I just plod along.  Probably will never finish any significant Marvel title, but it's better than wasting cash on smokes or booze (most of the time).

Moved towards collecting storylines or significant runs in the last few years.  I knocked out Miller's DD run, McFarlane's ASM run, etc.  I also have a weird thing for 1980s Marvel mini series.  I'm limited on space, so I have to be picky on what I decide to start buying.

Like TTFITZ I'm a completist. I've been collecting for 46 years so I've finished hundreds of Marvel and DC titles dating back to the early Silver Age. A lot of my long runs end in 2012 when I cut back due to the spiraling cost of new issues. I do maintain some unbroken runs including The Flash from 1959 to the present, JLA from 1960 to the present, FF from 1962 to the present, Amazing Spider-Man 1963 to the present, Superman 1963 to the present and Wonder Woman 1964 to the present. I need one more issue of X-Men/Uncanny X-Men to complete the run from #1 to #544, which is when the renumbering began for the title. It's unfortunate that the numberings on all of the titles have changed so many times, although Marvel now has their legacy numbers and DC is supposedly returning to the original numberings for The Flash and Wonder Woman. 

For many years I've been attempting to put together a set of every standard size Marvel published from January 1970 to December 1979 in VF or higher, mostly uncertified. There are close to 4,300 books in the set. I'm down to the final 8 that I need to finish. In case you are curious they are all books from the early 70s targeted to girls. They are Chili #18, #22 and #25; Millie the Model #197; My Love #10 and #33 and Our Love Story #18 and #23. Most of these can be found on eBay in lower grades, but trying to find clean copies with no tears or creases is the challenge. If anyone has any of these let me know as I will pay way over guide for them. Luckily, I bought most of the keys long before they were considered keys. I did have to spend a lot to pick up a VF Marvel Spotlight #5 last year, which was the last of the Bronze Age superhero books I needed.

LOL I want to complete runs but it is not like a driving goal. For example, would love to have ASM 50-400 filled in. I am about 15 books away with a couple biggies (ASM 50 ,129) slowing me down. 50 will happen, it is within the realm but paying $800-1000 for a decent copy of 129 is just a tad out of the wheelhouse right now. Technically I could not have purchased the last 40-50 comics I bought and have enough but then I wouldn't have the last 40-50 comics I bought!

As for runs I have, Combat Kelly from Marvel was one I completed. I also am nearing my Red Sonja run from the 70's. I have certain runs of mini series like Wolverine (Miller) and V for Vendetta.

I always try to do full runs whenever possible.  I have definitely over 100 full runs.  largest though is probably spawn but that's a relatively easy one to obtain.

My first run is ASM 1-110 including AF15. have the keys from 110-300 will try to complete the fillers later this year or next year maybe at a con if they are priced well.

Marvel Two-In-One - 100 issues plus 7 annuals

Invaders - 41 issues plus 1 annual

John Carter, Warlord of Mars - 28 issues and 3 annuals

Short runs also, like The Human Fly (19 issues), Infinity Gauntlet (6), Secret Wars (12 issues), Civil War (6 issues), DCs The New Frontier (6 issues)

Marvel Team Up (105 to go) - probably my main focus for the year
