Marvel Television might be getting phased out, but Marvel’s M.O.D.O.K. TV series at Hulu has a whole new chorus of voices.

Veep’s Sam Richardson, The Goldbergs’ Wendi McLendon-Covey, House of Lies’ Ben Schwartz and Lucifer’s Aimee Garcia are among the cast added to the animated super-villain family sitcom. With executive producer Patton Oswalt starring as the constantly foiled Mental Organism Designed Only for Killing, the adult-centric comedy is set to debut this year on the Disney-controlled streamer.

“I’m blown away by our insanely talented and hilarious voice cast, who have all brought their specific kind of magic to this weird and wonderful corner of the Marvel Universe,” EP and showrunner Jordan Blum said of the additions to the series. Karim Zreik, Marvel TV Studios SVP Original Programming & Production added in a statement today: “Patton and Jordan have done a phenomenal job in laying the groundwork for this exceptional ensemble. We’re thrilled to include this cast in the Marvel family,”

Announced in February as part of a multi-series rollout for Hulu, M.O.D.O.K. follows the extremely dysfunctional home life of the ex-A.I.M. member, who made his comics premiere way back in 1967.

In addition to Richardson, McLendon-Covey, Schwartz and Garcia, the cast additions include Melissa Fumero (Brooklyn Nine-Nine), Beck Bennet (Saturday Night Live, Bill & Ted Face The Music) and Jon Daly (The Kroll Show, Curb Your Enthusiasm).

In Marvel’s M.O.D.O.K., the megalomaniacal supervillain M.O.D.O.K. (Oswalt) has long pursued his dream of one day conquering the world. But after years of setbacks and failures fighting the Earth’s mightiest heroes, M.O.D.O.K. has run his evil organization A.I.M. into the ground. Ousted as A.I.M.’s leader, while also dealing with his crumbling marriage and family life, the Mental Organism Designed Only for Killing is set to confront his greatest challenge yet: a midlife crisis!

Garcia will play Jodie, M.O.D.O.K.’s wife and mother to his children, has had a late-in-life awakening — excited to pursue her mommy-blog turned lifestyle-brand empire and discover who she is as an independent woman in her forties. There are just too many things to do in this world and not enough time to waste being held back by negativity. And unfortunately for M.O.D.O.K., the thing weighing her down the most… is him.

With a number of programming and personal shifts at Marvel’s small screen efforts in recent months, M.O.D.O.K. is still set to join the Offenders team-up series with Howard the Duck and others next year – at least for now.

The voice cast, and their roles, are below:

  • Patton Oswalt (‘The Secret Life of Pets 2,’ ‘A.P. Bio’) as M.O.D.O.K.
  • After being ousted from both his evil organization and his family, super villain M.O.D.O.K. (Mental Organism Designed Only for Killing) must reinvent himself if he ever wants the chance to win back the things in his life that are most important… outside of conquering the world that is. M.O.D.O.K. is about to find out that super heroes are nothing compared to his newest challenge… a midlife crisis.
  • Aimee Garcia (‘Dexter,’ ‘Lucifer’) as Jodie
  • Jodie, M.O.D.O.K.’s wife and mother to his children, has had a late-in-life awakening — excited to pursue her mommy-blog turned lifestyle-brand empire and discover who she is as an independent woman in her forties. There are just too many things to do in this world and not enough time to waste being held back by negativity. And unfortunately for M.O.D.O.K., the thing weighing her down the most… is him.
  • Ben Schwartz (‘DuckTales,’ ‘Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’) as Lou
  • To be honest, M.O.D.O.K. doesn’t really “get” his twelve-year-old son Lou. Not athletic enough to be a jock. Not smart enough to be a nerd. Lou is… well, Lou — a kid who clearly marches to the beat of his own drum. Lou’s lack of friends, ambition and hygiene is a constant worry for M.O.D.O.K., who often projects his own insecurities onto his overly confident son.
  • Melissa Fumero (‘Brooklyn Nine-Nine,’ ‘One Day at a Time’) as Melissa
  • Even with her father’s “features,” seventeen-year-old Melissa has risen the ranks to become the Heathers-like queen bee of her school and a star in the world of teen figure skating. Every popular kid either wants to date her or avoid her terrifying wrath. But for all of her success, Melissa secretly yearns for her father’s approval.
  • Wendi McLendon-Covey (‘The Goldbergs,’ ‘Bob’s Burgers’) as Monica Rappaccini
  • Monica is a brilliant mad-scientist at A.I.M. and M.O.D.O.K.’s rival at work. Clearly more competent and qualified than M.O.D.O.K., Monica believes she should be running the organization. After GRUMBL acquires A.I.M., Monica relishes in M.O.D.O.K.’s suffering until the new management begins to infringe on her ungodly experiments. With a common enemy in Austin, M.O.D.O.K. and Monica are finally able to put aside their differences and work together… when they aren’t constantly betraying each other.
  • Beck Bennett (‘Saturday Night Live,’ ‘The Angry Birds Movie 2’) as Austin Van Der Sleet
  • After M.O.D.O.K.’s evil organization A.I.M. is run into the ground, he’s forced to sell it to silicon valley tech-giant GRUMBL. GRUMBL sends slick, twenty-something Austin as a “post-merger-integration-consultant” and M.O.D.O.K.’s new boss. Though M.O.D.O.K. wishes he could just zap Austin to the Negative Zone, M.O.D.O.K. must find new solutions to confront Austin’s corporate jargon-speak and frequent mandatory HR meetings, if he’s ever going to reclaim A.I.M. from Austin’s grip.
  • Jon Daly (Big Mouth,’ ‘I’m Dying Up Here’) as Super Adaptoid
  • A snarky android with ambitions to live, feel and create, but is instead forced to spend his days massaging the hoverchair sores on his creator M.O.D.O.K.’s scalp. Although the Adaptoid dreams of overwriting his programming and turning on M.O.D.O.K., there is also a begrudging friendship between these two.
  • Sam Richardson (‘Veep,’ ‘BoJack Horseman’) as Gary
  • Gary is a henchman or “beekeeper” at A.I.M. who is fiercely loyal to his boss M.O.D.O.K., even if M.O.D.O.K. struggles to remember his name. As M.O.D.O.K. continues to get demoted within his own organization, Gary is there by his side, always offering his help and unshakeable optimism whether M.O.D.O.K. wants it or not.

Showrunner Jordan Blum (‘Community,’ ‘American Dad!’) had this to say about the cast:

“I’m blown away by our insanely talented and hilarious voice cast, who have all brought their specific kind of magic to this weird and wonderful corner of the Marvel Universe.”

According to the latest Marvel Cinematic Universe rumour to do the rounds online, there are tentative plans in place for M.O.D.O.K. to make his live-action debut in the not too distant future.

Over the years, the classic Captain America and Avengers villain has become something of a fan-favourite, so this would definitely be a welcome development. Introduced in the pages of 1967's Tales of Suspense #93, M.O.D.O.K. was an AIM scientist who underwent an experiment to increase his intelligence. However, that led to him taking on the deformed appearance you see above!

There's no word on which project the villain is expected to appear in, but it's said that his debut will be shot in the coming year. Tom Holland has described Spider-Man 3 as "insane," so perhaps the web-slinger will end up squaring off with him? Those Disney+ TV shows are also likely possibilities.

However, the Spider-Man: Far From Home sequel does seem lmore likely when you consider that Peter Parker has clashed with a number of bad guys who have a history with Tony Stark, and the Armoured Avenger obviously battled A.I.M. in Iron Man 3.

We'll have to wait and see as this is just a rumour for now, and claiming that various characters are coming to an unnamed future MCU project does seem to be a favourite pastime of so-called "online scoopers" at the moment. M.O.D.O.K. showing up would be awesome, though, and a sign that Marvel Studios' Phase 4 is going to embrace the comic books in a big way.

Even a pandemic cannot stop the famed Mechanized Organism Designed Only for Killing from making his eventual Hulu debut. While promoting the upcoming third season of the Peacock series A.P. Bio, the incredibly talented and incredibly busy Patton Oswalt confirmed to Collider that the animated take on M.O.D.O.K. he and showrunner Jordan Blum are working on is on track to debut early next year.

It’s a wait, but Oswalt makes it sound like it’ll be worth it. “The episodes have been written. They’ve been recorded. Now they’re being animated. And because we committed very hard to the stop-motion aspect to it and we’re really packing every frame with crazy detail,” he says. “It’s looking like it’ll be early next year, but I don’t know the exact date yet.”

Here’s the official description for the show, as provided by Hulu:

In “Marvel’s M.O.D.O.K.,” the megalomaniacal supervillain M.O.D.O.K. (Patton Oswalt) has long pursued his dream of one day conquering the world.

The stop-motion animation for M.O.D.O.K. is being done by Stoopid Buddy Stoodios (the same production company behind Robot Chicken), with the previously announced voice cast for M.O.D.O.K. including Oswalt, Aimee Garcia, Melissa Fumero, Wendi McLendon-Covey, Ben Schwartz, Beck Bennett, Jon Daly, and Sam Richardson.

Oswalt added that he’d just done a music pass with composer Daniel Rojas on the fourth episode, and “it’s really, really cool stuff. So trust me, it is proceeding apace.” Rojas’s previous credits as a composer and songwriter include Kipo and the Age of Wonderbeasts, Downsizing, and Room.

So, we can look forward to M.O.D.O.K. at some point in early 2021.

MODOK: Head Games is already connecting the comics universe with Hulu's MODOK TV show. Now, it seems there may also be a connection to the MCU.

Marvel’s MODOK: Head Games series is breaking a lot of dimensional barriers. Not only is MODOK’s brain being hijacked by his own TV show, but a throwaway moment in issue #2 implies that the series may also connect to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

MODOK: Head Games is a new series from Marvel written by Patton Oswalt and Jordan Blum - the same creative team behind the upcoming MODOK animated TV show, set to debut on Hulu this year. The comic series follows MODOK as he becomes plagued by visions of a life he never had, which readers know are actually glimpses into the world of his soon-to-air TV series. Regardless of their origin, the visions are enough of an interference to get MODOK fired from his job as the leader of AIM, causing him to seek help from Tony Stark to repair his malfunctioning brain. However, in order to fix MODOK, Tony needs a device called the Starkwiz, which was coincidentally stolen by AIM in the first issue. Fortunately, MODOK knows how to get it back.

MODOK informs Stark that they will need to sneak into the Criminal Technology Show Expo, a secret gathering of villains where they can acquire new tech. The Starkwiz is being auctioned off in a private room that can only be accessed through an inter-dimensional elevator. The artwork provides views into the various worlds through which the elevator travels, and one looks suspiciously similar to Asgard in the MCU. While it is difficult to say for certain, the golden architecture is a prominent similarity, and the ships in the background have the exact same design as the ships used in Thor: The Dark World when Thor and Loki make their daring escape from Asgard.

While this would be an amazing Easter egg, there isn’t enough to go on to say for sure whether this is actually the Asgard of the MCU. Even if it is, that raises even more questions, since the MCU's Asgard was destroyed during the events of Thor: Ragnarok. MODOK would then have to travel across both dimensions and time to be looking at that version of Asgard, but stranger things have happened. Considering that MODOK’s TV show is already becoming comics canon through its connection with this series, it stands to reason that the MCU and comics universe could cross over as well.

Since Hulu’s MODOK show will be separate from the MCU, MODOK: Head Games could be the bridge that connects three separate Marvel universes. Granted, a full-on, trans-dimensional crossover is incredibly unlikely, but the potential is there nonetheless.

The X-Men character Mr. Sinister will be making an appearance in Hulu's new animated series M.O.D.O.K., show creator Jordan Blum confirms.

The upcoming Marvel series M.O.D.O.K. will be featuring a familiar villain from the X-Men franchise: Mr. Sinister. M.O.D.O.K. is a new animated installment in the world of Marvel television coming exclusively to the streaming platform Hulu, and the titular character M.O.D.O.K. will be voiced by Patton Oswalt. Though there aren’t many story details available for the series, it appears that one familiar villain will be making an appearance.

In a recent tweet, M.O.D.O.K. co-creator Jordan Blum revealed the X-Men villain Mr. Sinister will be featured in the series. Blum expressed his excitement for Mr. Sinister’s appearance in the show and directed fans towards writer Zeb Well’s portrayal of Mr. Sinister in the comic series Hellions.

The inclusion of Mr. Sinister is exciting for X-Men comic fans, especially since it follows Marvel's recent trend of incorporating more X-Men elements into their stories. However, some Marvel comics fans have expressed skepticism of the series, claiming that this comedy series is a waste of M.O.D.O.K.’s potential as a character. M.O.D.O.K. is expected to premiere early this year, and hopefully, when it does, the characters like Mr. Sinister and M.O.D.O.K. will be put to good use.
