Disney's PINOCCHIO - because we live in a society... (2022)

Pinocchio hasn’t been remade nearly as many times as Batman or Spider-man. We’ve seen fewer Pinocchio related movies than STAR WARS related movies. I don’t see how one could be fed up with this remake and not all the rest. The last Pinocchio movie was released in 1940.

I think you missed the point.

Jungle Book

Beauty and the Beast

Dumbo

101 Dalmatians

Aladdin

The Lion King

Lady and the Tramp

Maleficent

Maleficent 2

Cinderella

Mulan

Bambi

Pinocchio

Still only a fraction of output of the MCU, which are all essentially sequels of one another AND often times remakes of movies less than a decade old as well. So what’s the point? They wanted to remake an 80 year old depression era movie.

and this will likely be better than most of the bilge that Hollywood foists upon the public every year

I’ve enjoyed the few live action remakes I’ve seen. But I don’t see them all. It’s awesome being able to watch one and not the other because they’re not all a part of a cinematic universe though

If these weren't lazy remakes of classic animated films at times, you would have me right there with you.

But to the level Disney is doing this is clear it is cranking out the same stories to new audiences because the old marketing ploy of 'We've brought Movie X out of the Disney Vault for one last time' doesn't work so well nowadays. The content at times is dated.

So what do we get? Dumbo. 101 Dalmatians. Lady and the Tramp.

If they were more selective then solid films like Maleficent and Jungle Book would prove the strategy out. Otherwise, this is just a Disney Vault countermeasure strategy.

They’re not cranking them out any faster than Marvel movies

You keep attempting that comparison as if Disney is treating this as a franchise. If only it was that organized and directed.

Not to say you shouldn't love all over these films. You should, if they work for you. Just don't act like this isn't a big cash grab to modernize the Disney Vault content.

Yep. And if you miss one they punish you with pointless continuity porn. I made that mistake watching Far From Home thinking I wouldn’t have to have seen an Avengers movie to understand the first 30 minutes of it, but the movie essentially starts mid-scene right off the tail of another movie. Added to that, the movies all have different titles and aren’t numbered. You don’t need Wikipedia to follow along with the plot of Pinocchio or to know who half the characters are

I hope they stick to the original stories this time instead of severely censoring them and changing everything. The 1940 Disney Pinocchio adaption is a beautiful movie and I love it, but the original Pinocchio stories are violent and twisted as heck and want to see a faithful adaption of them. But that won't happen.

The ethnocentrism sometimes... Adventures of Pinocchio with Nino Manfredi and Gina Lollobrigida (1972 - my reference), Pinocchio by Roberto Benigni (2009), and Pinocchio by Matteo Garrone (2020) director of Ghomorra etc.

Really hope they do not "PC" wash this film.

Changing Geppettos name. Changing Pleasure Island. No Smoking/Drinking  as it promotes under age, etc, etc.

I have a feeling they will make this almost unrecognizable, but hope they do not..

Also for your list above of remakes They are also doing the live action of The Little Mermaid..

Maybe time for a Tesla Herbie... :facepalm:

At this point wish they would just bring back The Apple Dumpling Gang...
