If anyone is low on TP and didn't stock up before it hit the fan, check this site for a roundup of the amazon items as they are in stock. I never thought I'd see PREORDERS for TP.

Not a perfect site but better than aimlessly browsing.  I snagged a 24 big roll pack that should be here in a week to get us through.

Well, looks like HA is hammering way lower across the board.  ASM #14 6.5 closed at 1740 with BP included, GPA is 2500.

With that said I was looking at some BA keys I like to eyeball, not in HG, and I am not noticing any great deals. An ugly All Star Western 10 went for over $100.

Seriously, my local supermarket is at capacity with TP. the only difference is that it is not on sale. but regular "retail" price.

And the balance between the short term and the long term is the trick.

My brother is basically 'done'.  He is a professional poker player.  He is not the "degenerate-take-your-paycheck-to-the-table-after-taking-your-watch-to-the-pawn-shop" player.  With casinos closed and tournaments slowing to a standstill combined with the decline of the stock market, he is looking for something at the age of 42.  He has made a pretty successful career for himself doing what he does since he was 23? 24?

Take a vacation for a couple of months? If he doesn't have a few months of nest egg to live off of the poker playing wasn't going all that well anyway. This is a time to find a job other than at amazon, etc. He won't be able to get a nursing degree in the next 2 weeks.

Five weeks ago I cut shelf copies in half at FOC. Two weeks ago I cut them by 75%. FOC yesterday I chopped 90% off what I would normally have.

Instead of 500 or so shelf copies between 70 titles in a given week, I’ve cut from 250 to 125 and now to 50. I’ll miss some potential profits. But I won’t get stuck with a grand a week in tombstones.

To be honest I wish I’d have cut a little deeper 5 weeks ago. But it’s the only part of the weekly Diamond invoice I can really finetune (other than choosing to wait on reorders of things like Watchmen, Saga, and My Hero Academia when I get low on stock).

Rent is still due. I’m still paying my employees whether they work or not. Still paying utilities. The only expense I can adjust is inventory.

So what you're saying is that the comics ordered in the last week or two and in the next week or three will be very rare?

It's only a matter of time before the supply chain catches up and everyone who stocked up will already have it.. making that the case everywhere.

I obeyed the CDC and stocked up on my medications...

Thursday night we ran out of the house to stock up as a friend told my wife they're instituting limits. I think that was b.s. though. It isn't as if the wine and booze won't get drunk though. Same with the bottled water. We'll take it to the beach this summer if the beaches are open.

Last sunday I went to the supermarket and found plenty of steak on sale. Loaded up as we were low. My theory was that peoples' freezers were already full and they had no room for more. I was right. Barely any canned food or other long term stuff was there though.

2 or 3 weeks ago I went to the drug store just to see if they had any hand sanitizer or wipes left. They were out. I bought 4 bottles of 70% ethyl alcohol though. They were even on sale. Apparently people did not know this is the active ingredient in hand sanitizer and 70% is a concentration you can spray right on your hands.

We went out I think last Thursday night, before the waves of shoppers decided to hit all the stores.

He does have a nest egg to last him for quite some time.  However, he personally believes that there might not be any coming back from this.  He supposedly asked his friend to see if they were hiring.  It is a shame because at one point he was offered by his then girlfriend to do something with her law firm.   However, since the September 11th attacks he has not wanted to do anything with or have much to do with the corporate world it seems.

What led him to this conclusion?

Oh, and to @the blob and the rest of NYC'ers...

And those that work there...

I drove in today... still took almost two hours to go in and I just got home now... took about an hour to come back home.

Be prepared for a shelter in place order within the next 48hrs.

He thinks this current interruption is going to kill poker for good?

I dunno... Didn't get that far into the conversation... I would assume that he does not think that casinos will be opening in LA where he is anytime soon.   I will readily admit that my brother is very well read and very smart.  He does believe that it will get worse and not better in the foreseeable future.

lol Most of the brief conversations we have had have been in regards to making sure mom and dad stay at their house.  To be sure not  to come into much contact with them as I am still going back and forth to the city.  The third thing is to try and entertain mom through facetime or something (which was hard to do this weekend for some reason) so they don't wind up killing each other.

Here is something to consider - people are buying up all the floor freezers around here.  Regardless of how bad it is or how bad it isn't, that does not change the fact that people are hoarding food.

It's about to become interesting I believe...
