The display also focused how the comics in Mexico changed reflecting the same changes in the US. In the fifties things got a little racier.

Wish I'd taken a few more pictures but it was a pretty cool exhibit and opened my eyes to some new material. If you are in Kyoto I highly recommend a visit to this nice little museum.

Wow.  I want that Picante!  :whee:

Me too!  I took a chance on a couple of issues on eBay several years ago from a seller in Mexico City.  He had 5 or 6 as I recall, so I bought two to give them a try.  They were $40 or $50 each, or I would have scooped them all up.  It took several weeks for them to arrive, and once I had a chance to read them I immediately tried to buy the remaining copies, but of course they were long gone by that point...  I'll see if I can dig mine out sometime this week and post pictures of them.

@Komic Kazi ?  Maybe you have some of these in your incredible foreign print collection?

a few early Superman editions from Mexico.

The earliest complete publishing of Superman action comics #1 I have ever found is in Brazil.

It was published first by Gazeta in December 1938 and again by O Globo a few months later and in both cases the story is complete.

Brazil by far is the earliest International publisher of historically important editions....

The Mexican Editions are incredible as well, being I lived in Mexico and Married a Mexican and have three Sons which are half Mexican.

There is a reason we are passionate about the Latin Heritage in our Genre....

Our family has lived in Latin america most of the last 30yrs...

Enjoy...

I wasn't  sure where to put  this and I really don't  post  here that much  let alone the GA  section.   I want to share something of historical importance  and extremely and I do mean extremely rare.  Paquito 255.   This issue came out August 15th 1938 . About 3 months after Action 1  in the U.S.    So  this book was on the stand at the same time of Action 3 or 4.  The back cover contains  Action 1 page 3 .  Printed in Mexico  and the entire book is newsprint.  It was a weekly series that broke up Action 1  so each week you got a page.  This is an anthology book  that has continuing stories from various characters including some Mexican original material.  The Action 1 story in this comic  is unknown even my many collectors in Mexico its so rare.   I figured you guys may get a kick out of seeing it.  It would be something to be able to find each issue  for the complete story.   I find it historical in the Fact  a Mexican comic may very well contain  the 3rd  or 4th appearance of Superman in comics even though its a Spanish edition of the Action 1 story.

Great history in regards to the Superman Origin story back page.

It is very important that vintage comic collectors understand the evolution of the genre world-wide.

Latin American publishers are among the earliest in global history and they have incredible artist, and extremely low print runs from that era originally, now resulting in just very rare survivors..

Brazil has the earliest International Edition of A Complete Action Comics #1 story I have ever discovered.

1st Gazeta published it in December of 1938 and then O Globo published it again a few months later both times the story is complete and original.

" Find here the original Brazilian art of the O Globo edition"

The Gazeta has the complete story but had another cover unrelated to Superman.

Once again great work with the Mexican Edition...

If you would like to learn more about rare International Editions I have a thread here in CGC.

The Mexican comics are very interesting. Paquito was an offshoot of the magazine Paquin. Here's a history from the internet and pics of the interior of a 1936 issue. No superheroes in this issue since it's pre-1938 but there's Buck Rogers, Tracy, Terry, etc...

So incredibly cool.  Thanks for sharing

Pif-Paf in Journal form is the earliest Batman publishings I have found Internationally.

The earliest traditional comic book form with a monthly publication would be Brazil.

Lobinho #7

Published by Grande Consórcio Suplementos Nacionais, Brazil 1940

Brazilian Original Cover art along with the first Teaser Cover annuncing the Monthly coming.

MIRIM is the Journal that pre-dated O Lobinho and were published by the same Editior.

Both extremely rare and among the earliest International publishing's of Batman world wide.

No I have been hunting O Globo History for over 10yrs now. Finding original art and attempting to find the artists history and have failed thus far. The generation with that knowledge has passed now and history was not recorded well in Brazil.

Our family shares what we know and have donated images of 1,000's of rare editions to the largest Websites creating these data bases.
