Welcome to my sale.

Some of these books are from the “Evelyn Collection” they are among the last of the raw books I own from that collection.

If you are interested in the history of the “Evelyn Collection” I wrote some info here when I sold the balance of her books.

 

To the best of my knowledge, these books have not been pressed.

 

There is a mixture today, some expensive books, some are very reasonable.

I take Paypal, checks, money orders, or I'd consider tanzanite earrings;) (maybe)

 

I ship to anywhere, at my cost. I use regional boxes when it's more practical, I will ship media mail but not on anything over $100.

 

I pay for private insurance and I try to pack well.

 

I will consider reasonable time payments, but you must discuss them with me before you post a take it.

 

The first or "take it "here or in a pm thread wins, however, if I can't determine the time, the one on the board wins.

 

I take returns for any reason as long as you notify me within 3 days of receipt and you pay for return shipping (unless I made an errror) and ship it in the same manner I shipped the books to you. I must receive the books within 7 days.

Action Comics #36, 1941

Nice pages, obviously beloved by Elwood Riordan and a great Robot! Cover. When I bought this book (quite a while ago) the center pages were missing, so I took the 3 centerfolds from another copy and put them in the book ( I didn't attach them,just stuck them in there). That was done a while ago, too. The staples seem to match at the holes.

A qualified 4.0 or a little better, depending on what you take off for the stamps and writing. I always thought they were part of the charm:)

Action Comics #154 (1951) a relatively scarce time for DC. 24 pages, nice color, Lois in a swim suit, a 3” tear at the spine and the bottom staple is detached from the cover. There is creasing and very light supple pages. Grade is Good (2.0) and the Bin is $115

Action #255, 1959, first Bizarro Lois. This is a book from the Bakerstowne Warehouse collection, with some blue distributor's ink, great gloss and some warping. Grade is VG-  (3.5)Bin is $75.00  sold to Azkaban

This was always one of my special favorites from Evelyn, I have a few special favorites, but the cover is so cool. I really love the black and white pages inside.

 

Adventure Comics #42, 1939 from the Evelyn collection.  Sold 

A nice book with supple pages that is readable and not easy to find. Evelyn's husband was an engineer and artist and did some amateur restoration on many of his books. On this one, he reattached the cover with tape and took two pieces of another comic and pasted them to the cover as support. It's an “engineering marvel” or something done by this cool man who just loved comics;)

I have no idea how to grade it, but it's complete and readable. Maybe an apparent 1.8 if “apparent” makes a difference in that grade. I consider it a piece of art;)

A 3.0 sold in Nov for $3650 .
Bin on this copy is $1150

All-Flash #5 from 1942

If you are a fan of horses, you'll love the cover: and the 4 part story, Flash saves, the horse, the girl, a romance, gets the bad guy PLUS a female jockey rides in 1942!

A great looking cover with sharp inks, and a small piece of paper missing (just the top edge). There is a 1.5” tear at the spine and a little glue at the top between that spot on the spine and the top staple. Grade without the glue would be a really nice looking 3.5, it's probably a little better in an apparent grade maybe 5.0 c-1? Just my guess. Bin is $250.00

All Flash #20 , 1945

Nice color, nice pages and a tear at the cover where there is a detached bottom staple (paper is there, but folded) The centerfold is detached at the bottom staple and there is a cover tear below the staple. There are some tears on the back cover.

Who doesn't like Carousels?

Grade is Gd/+ (2.5) or maybe a little better. bin is $125.00

All Winners Vol #2, #1sold to Unstoppablejayd

The 2^nd Volume of All Winners in 1948 started out with this wonderful Blonde Phantom cover. It was the only issue that she and the rest of the “Squad” Captain America, The Human Torch, and Subby would appear in. After this issue, the name would hange to All-Western Winners.

This book has a beautiful cover, in the 7.0 range. There is a coupon cut from the text story, a coupon cut on the back of the splash page for the Captain America story and a cut on the next page (where the razor blade went through.

The last sale was an 8.5 in August 2019, but that's not really a comparable. The cover and the centerfold are intact. There is a coverless copy on eBay for $455, I have no idea how to price this, but it's a lot better than the coverless copy, and the highlight of this book is the cover, so I'm going to ask $850  $595

 

 

 

Note there are 2 cut coupons, from the pictures it looks like 3, but I showed both sides of that one.

Batman #140, 1961

Batwoman cover and the Ghost of the Joker is the first story. Book has some tanning inside the front cover and a mall piece off the bottom. There is staining on the back cover. Grade is 3.0(Gd/VG) or possibly a little better. Bin is $40.00

Batman #141, 1961. The 2^nd appearance of the first Batgirl, Betty (Kathy's niece) The book has nice color, nice pages and a small piece off the upper right. Grade is 3.5 (VG- for the piece) or a little better
