This one the highest grade, last time I checked, at only 7.5

I remember seeing this issue for sale quite often back in the day. Much more than other issues in the run. For that reason I never grabbed one, thinking I could always get it at a later date. Mistake!

Anybody know who sold off all those Mystery tales on CC?  Wonder what else they have?!

We are excited to present a small preview of comics from the Second City Collection in this auction to whet your appetite. Top keys in this auction are Detective Comics #33 CGC 9.2R, Amazing Fantasy #15 CGC 9.4R, Captain America Comics #1 CGC 8.0R, Fantastic Four #1 CGC 7.5R SS, and Incredible Hulk #1 CGC 8.0R.

Bidders have a shot at an entire run of Mystery Tales, which serves as a brief preview for our very next Event Auction, the newly minted Second City Collection. The collection features many highest-graded issues of this collectible Atlas title. Beloved by fans of the horror/mystery genre, Mystery Tales has gone on to become one of the more-desirable titles of the era. Demand has reinvigorated the horror collecting community and brought these overlooked gems back into the limelight. Many of these issues have classic, memorable cover illustrations by the respected Bill Everett, and most of the copies in this set come from revered pedigrees, with offerings from the Bethlehem, Northford, and Mile High collections. Do not overlook issue #40, which was featured prominently in the TV series Lost.

C-connect has said their next auction will be a single owner auction.

You may remember a few years back Mystery Tales were hitting aggressive prices whenever they popped up in any condition and this was in part due to an unknown buyer from Chicago buying them up at aggressive prices and buying multiples of many (perhaps all) issues  - I guess this collection was the result.

Some undetcopies were auctioned in the monthly CC just ran.

I never learned who the Chicago buyer was but they obviously acquired some great books.

I know, post code and not high grade, but one of my favorite Everett covers. Been looking for it for a while. Courtesy of Terry O this eeekend.

I think a number of Everett's best covers were post-Code.
