Poll: bad idea or worst idea ever from Marvel?

Everyone on this board people_without_enough_empathy and whines about how kids aren't reading new books anymore and now when Marvel tries to do something that is geared towards kids, you person_without_enough_empathy and whine about that too. You can't eat your cake and have it too. This (clearly) isn't meant for the 40+ year olds that inhabit this board. Either they will try to remain relevant with kids by changing or die out along with us if they just keep doing the same old, same old that they were doing in the bronze/copper age. Yeah, I would hate the comic if I bought it. The whole idea is foreign and dumb to me but I realize that I don't think like kids today and maybe, just maybe this will resonate with them. So NO, not a dumb idea.

I dunno, man. I don't know kids like I used to as I've been out of education for a few years, but while they may not react cynically to the characters, it's hard to imagine them really liking them either.

I dunno either. At least they are trying. I do know that doing the same old, same old in the face of change doesn't work. Just ask Blockbuster, or Sears and so many others that didn't embrace the change that technology and a new generation brought.

We have to accept that kids just are not going to be interested in comics-it's a rare kid that will put down their cell phone or video game and pick up a comic.  This cannot be changed by changing the content.  My buddy who owns a comic shop told me kids hate comic shops.  They keep asking can we leave now while dad shops.  The people who get interested in comics seem to be in their 20s.  They may get interested from the movies-not sure.

No kids are going to buy this. I doubt the content would even be kid friendly.

I deal with teens a lot and they find this kind of obvious preaching dumb.  They watch south park a lot.  South park has no time for this type of nonsense.  Teens like the wild and outlandish not the safe space stuff.
I can just imagine teens checking out this book:
"OH MY GOD her name is SAFE SPACE you guys!  SAFE SPACE!"
"And the other one's name is SNOWFLAKE!!!  Bwaahhahahhahhaa!!!"
"And her snowflakes turn into shurikens!!!  HAHAHAHAHA!!  THIS HAS GOT TO BE THE DUMBEST COMIC EVER!!"

Not I repeat NOT the way to get kids interested in comics.

Children under age 9 MIGHT read it-but there are plenty of comics already they might read, my lil pony for example.  This is not some groundbreaking move here.   And taking a political slant on a book for children under 9-well....

Seems really shortsighted they didn’t have Trigger Warning on the team. Basically a young Punisher with a cool costume and lots of guns

If it's their typical fare there will be lots of sitcom style double entendres, negating the idea it's 'for kids'.

I completely agree with how bad this idea.  But, it is bad because its dumb, not because it involves politics.

The thing is marvel has been doing these type of SJW things over and over.  That escalates the badness factor.

Politics is a story killer every single time.  It lands with a thud wherever it rears its ugly head-comics, movies, the boards.  A story's function is to entertain-not preach.

You could not be more wrong.  Politics is what has infused many of our greatest comics, television, and movies.  This really is not subject to debate.   Do I really need to say EC Comics, X-Men, Watchmen, Miller's Batman, etc.?  At their height they are all explicitly political or political allegories.  The original superhero Social Justice Warrior was Superman.  Captain America was punching white supremacist antisemitism in the face before the U.S. formally entered WWII.  EC was putting out anti-war comics in the shadow of WWII.  I could go on and on and on.  If you dig Ewoks, that's cool, but don't pretend a LOT of great comics have political content.

I guess I cant explain it well-there's good politics and there's bad-to those who dont know how bad it can get here's what happens when marvel goes full ******
