Hey everyone...I've often wondered how many pages per day the King put out. I'm sure it varied greatly over time, but let's say during his 60's Marvel era where it seems like he had his finger in nearly every pie they baked. Any ideas? I've searched for this info online before and always came up empty handed.

Thanks!

Full pencils only or inclusive of layouts and similar 'touched it' briefly credit? Two very different answers.

I did a quick calculation for December of 1964.  At that time, Marvel had 14 titles on the spinner rack.  By my estimation, Jack penciled 77 pages and 9 covers for that month.  All hail the King!!

He was drawing four books every six weeks during the Fourth World period at DC in the early 1970s.

Three to six pages a day.  Famously when Steranko was late with Cap 112 (or, as Steranko claims, Stan overreacted), Stan called Jack on a Friday and on  Monday Jack sent in 20 pages and a cover.

In The Art of Jack Kirby book, Ray Wyman does a lot of calculations on this topic.  It's a great book, btw - there's a month-by-month chronology that I hope someone updates sometime that shows how insane his work ethic was.

I nice example would be Tales to Astonish 83. Gene Colan who was regularly doing the title was sick and Jack had to fill in for him. I believe he produced 22 pages in a single weekend.

Mike's Amazing World of Comics has a feature that shows you to the top artists (pencils or inks), top penciller, and top inker.

Mike's data is strong for Marvel and DC. Less so for Archie, Harvey, and Charlton, but it's interesting none the less.

"Kirby total market cap" should fall somewhere in the 9-figures range; not too shabby for a funny book artist.

Makes me think of Spiderman 101-102 covers...Kirby at his board 2 hands in sight, he turns around and you see 4 more arms so he can go as fast as his mind was creating!
