More Fun Comics #37 (DC, 1938)

An awesome Creig Flessel cover. He is my absolute fav!

Joe Shuster, Bob Kane, and Bernard Baily art.

Strong cover, bright colors, very slight spine roll, centerfold unfortunately detached (possibly could be re-attached), cream pages, dealer I bought it from priced at $625 and didn't reveal centerfold issue, but because of that I assign it a 3.0 grade (instead of a 6.0). The Flessel cover alone, as well as the interior cover page scene of Superman, makes it worth $385.00.

More Fun Comics #45 (DC, 1939) Condition: FR/GD.

Another awesome cover by Creig Flessel and full of color! Interior art by Bob Kane, Jerry Siegel, and Joe Shuster.

The cover is detached and is partly split, with lots of tape. The interior pages are off-white with no brittleness.

Heritage sold this copy in 2011 for $388.38 (I was an underbidder and I have no recollection of where or when I got it).

I will offer it for $400.00 (which means in light of shipping costs, which are free for this purchase, it is selling for less than what it did in 2011).

Don't risk missing it because the odds of you finding another copy any time soon are prettttttty slim.

It looks like #98 is an incomplete copy. Missing at least two pages from what I can tell, so I won't post it. But if for some reason anyone is still interested, just PM me.

It is a gorgeous, bright cover and features Spectre, Green Arrow and Johnny Quick stories. It is also listed as scarce.

More Fun Comics #89 (DC, 1943) CGC VF 8.0 Off-white to white pages.

The Green Arrow and Speedy practice their archery skills on some unfortunate criminals on Cliff Young's clever cover for this Golden Age title. The issue also features the origin of the Green Arrow and Speedy team.

One copy grades higher.

More Fun Comics #93 "D" Copy pedigree (DC, 1943) CGC FN/VF 7.0 Off-white pages.

It's old-fashioned fun as Green Arrow and Speedy meet "The Man from the Mauve Decade" (that's the 1890s, in case you were wondering). The cover is by Cliff Young, who also drew the accompanying story. While earlier issues of this title mixed in a few adventure-type characters, this one's an all-superhero affair -- how do Doctor Fate, Aquaman, Johnny Quick, and the Spectre strike you? Note that while Overstreet calls this the first appearance of Dover and Clover, that comedic duo didn't debut until the following issue.

Only the Church copy grades higher so this is the best affordable copy you can find right now! Heritage has only offered two CGC copies in the last 15+ years!

A mere $275.00

More Fun Comics #98 (DC, 1944)

Last appearance of Doctor Fate (and I read somewhere this is the last Golden Age appearance?). Overstreet lists this particular issue as "scarce", which is saying a lot because every issue of this title is difficult to find. Gerber "8".

The first thing that obviously jumps out is the hole punch in the upper left. It is what it is. Strong, deep color covers. Single staple (somewhat rusty) book and cover almost detached, cream pages. I originally thought there were missing pages but I checked and confirmed everything is present. I won't grade it given the hole punch, but if that didn't exist I would grade it at 3.0. In any event, given the scarcity of this book I'll price at $150.00

More Fun Comics #99 (DC, 1944) 6.0 Cream to Off-White Pages

Featuring the Spectre, Green Arrow and Speedy, Aquaman, and Johnny Quick. Cover by George Papp. Art by Bernard Baily and Mort Meskin.

And, hey, it's a bondage copy. Don't get too excited!

Still has the grade and price sticker from the dealer I purchased it from 8-10 years ago. I'll leave it priced at that: $300.00

More Fun Comics #45 Billy Wright pedigree (DC, 1939) CGC FN+ 6.5 Off-white to white pages.

One of just four copies that CGC has certified. Two grade higher. Great adventure cover!!!!

Another amazing Creig Flessel cover. Bernard Baily, story and art. Jerry Siegel story. Joe Shuster art.

The issues in the 40s are virtually impossible to find, and this was one of the last books I purchased when I was chasing the title. There are only four unrestored copies on the CGC census.

Heritage has sold only four unrestored copies. The last one in 2016 was a raw VG+ and sold for over 2x Guide.

$2,000.00

That's a John Richard Flanagan cover.  :gossip:

More Fun Comics #79 (DC, 1942) Condition: CGC 7.5 Off-White Pages

Green Arrow and Speedy cover. Heritage has auctioned only six copies.

Three copies grade higher (two are pedigrees, Rockford 9.4 and Church 9.6) but this issue is simply not available. The last Heritage copy sold was a raw VG/FN in 2015, and none before that since 2005! A CGC 4.0 copy sold in June 2019 for over 2x Guide!

So, as with many issues in this series, good luck finding it! And if you don't want to spend $6,000 - $9,000 for those two pedigree copies, this copy is the one for you!

$1,500.00
