I love Fine’s covers, but his interiors are more like individual drawings and lack the flow and fluidity of a good storyteller.  Otherwise, I would have included him

His Black Condor and Ray are spectacular to me.  I remember getting Alan Light's reprint book of those stories.  All personal preference of course.  Frazetta sits atop my pantheon of my artists.

Adam Hughes as a modern cover artist choice.

Richard Corben in the visual storyteller category.

For more recent strip cartoonists, I urgent you guys to check out Stephen Pastis' Pearls before Swine.

It's like if Calvin and Hobbes, the Far Side, and Bloom County had a child and no one knows who the father is.

I've said this before and I'll say it again, I see plenty of people bash Liefeld and other modern day artists while the legends get a pass for their poor anatomy and drawing at times.

I agree with this to the extent that everyone had their share of sub-par efforts, but I tend to believe artists in the earlier decades were under more onerous deadlines.  2c

Reminder “Snowblind” from Alpha Flight?  😃

Yup. The use of negative space there was just incredible.

I also recall he wrote a Batman story with no words.  Aparo supplies the art.

Yes both of those are true, but are you really doing to tell me this guy didn't own the 80s with Perez?
