So the sky isn't falling and CGC isn't shutting down huh. They are staying open as well as about 90% of everyone else who hasn't already shut down here in Florida... Which is a ton of stuff related to tourist, tourism, bars,clubs ECT. Anyway, like I said yesterday,it's a SAFER AT HOME ORDER not Martial law.

Anyways... 

Waves look really fun and Cocoa Beach is pretty empty unless you live here, time for a surf session out back...catch you all later, surf time!

Since it's inadvertent, yes, I actually do/should.

We're discussing different things and you refuse to admit it.

You physically and personally have the freedom to do what you want.

But socially, you don't.

Freedom within a society takes into account morality, ethics and the law. Your personal freedom doesn't have to.

So you may not care if you get infected by CV-19 but if your 'personal freedom' might cause someone else's health (and by extension freedom) to get taken away then you will have yours removed.

That's the extent of your freedom, ultimately.

You should watch some video footage of people dying and hospitals being overwhelmed and you might feel differently about tourism.

"SAFER AT HOME" what a joke.

Can't go the beach here. First they shut down the parking lots then they had life guards drive up and take away the stupid one's "freedom" away and told them to go home. Drove by the beach this morning early on the way home from the store.  Nice 4' glassed off tubes with no one on them...

It suks, but I'm OK with it. The waves will always be there waiting for me.

I hope CGC does what the other grading company did last week and put the welfare of their employees first.

There is nothing "essential" in life about comics!

I don't like being cooped up, just like everyone else, but there is still much more freedom left in our lives than being in a prison cell. I'll take all the restrictions on the chin if it helps the health workers cope with the situation, because if we all get sick at once...we've had it, and that's that. 

This disease is going to kill a lot of people on the planet, and probably every single person on these forums will know somebody who dies. Boardies will die.

I am afraid. The fact that others aren't...well bully for them.

I'm afraid for myself, I'm afraid for my children and my loved ones.

I'm more afraid of the fools who think they are above all this.

This isn't original to me, but it's been pointed out that in WW2, during a crisis, we were asked to go into battle, and tens of thousands were killed and maimed.  They knew this, and did it anyway.  Today... we are only being asked to sit at home and watch TV.  It's really not the same thing.

I agree, sadly. Big fan of CGC, but as much as I would like "business as usual" as a fan, under current conditions it's hard to make the case that their employees should travel in to the office, even in staggered shifts or what have you. I don't think it's worth the risk to their safety.

This virus is kind of the mother of all collective action problems. We all feel strong actions should be taken *in general* to encourage social distancing, but it's way too tempting to look for loopholes for ourselves. And each state has a different patchwork of rules, making decisions even more confusing.

In local news, here in NYC they just shut down the playgrounds all across the city because families were congregating there. This bums me out tremendously, because taking my son to the playground is one of the very few things he's enjoyed since everything shut down here a few weeks back. But is the city "right" to shut them down? They absolutely are. Whether I like it or not, lives will 100% be saved because they took this action.

The books can and will eventually return, sooner or later. I pray for their health and safety first, which without that, where the books are and when they'll see them again means absolutely nothing.

You're right! That's it. That's what it was they were throwing out trayfuls of. Lasagna, Ziti, mashed potatoes, coleslaw, elbow salad, chicken this and that, etc., all the trays of buffet-type food they prep and cook early in the day that's leftover at closing..I thought it was a shame. Lots of places that could have benefitted by receiving it instead of into the dumpster. I hate to see food wasted. I never do it. If I can't finish a meal, I wrap it or put it in a container and will reheat and eat that for or as part of my next meal.

I understand that some people don't want to change their lifestyles in order to preserve their "freedom." I get it. No one likes to be forced. I value my freedom. You know what else I value?

My 99-year old Great Grandmother. I've written to her since I was a child- I still write to her. I have never met her. She lives states away. Someday, I want to fly out and meet her.

That can't happen if someone decides that they don't need to quarantine because they're "free" and decides to live like they do normally. They might infect someone, who infects someone, who infects my Grandma. Do you think she'll survive it? I mean, she was around during the Great Depression- this should be a snap, right? 

There are millions of people at risk. I understand that freedom is important- it is. But you know what? I'm willing to sacrifice mine, yours, everyone's, for a short time if it means giving other people more.

If I’m understanding correctly, CGC will remain open.  Are they still accepting submissions?  Or are they taking this time to catch up?
