Forbidden Planet (1956)

I remember Harlan Ellison talking about how he'd been approached by producers to write a remake of Forbidden Planet. He told them it was a perfect movie and that they should (perform hideous obscenities upon themselves).

Then then contacted Ray Bradbury. Not sure what happened after that.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I can't find where there was ever a Forbidden Planet comic book produced contemporary to the movie. I think there was a small series made in the early 90's. I did however find a Forbidden Planet movie poster cover swipe for the last issue of Katy Keene from 1961.

Mondo made some good posters for the movie. The last one is from another gallery.

But Prometheus is a terrible film.

I like Prometheus far more than the really terrible sequel. Which probably finally killed the whole Alien series.

True. Alien Covenant is an abomination of the first order.

One of the best sci-fi movies ever but no remakes please.Prequel may be ok.Remember what happened with the remake of The Day The Earth Stood Still and the horrible, horrible remake of War of the Worlds.

If it works the first time around, don't mess with it.

I thought War of the Worlds was pretty good. I wouldn't consider it a remake though as Spielberg pretty much followed the book.

Yes, because they often make it revolve around the star actor, not the original story. The minute I saw dockworker Tom cruise with a father/son problem I knew I would enjoy the movie.
