Sheesh, I guess no one else liked Sal Buscema on Avengers like I did. Frank Miller's art :nyah: devolved too much?

I don't really like Vess, Mort Meskin, Paul Smith, Doug Wildey or Mignola art. I would add to the list of fave USA artists:

Todd McFarlane (born in Canada but moved to USA like John Byrne)

Adam Hughes.

Richard Corben

Jaime Hernandez

Milton Caniff

Chris Ware

J H Williams III

Charles Burns

Jack Kamen - very underrated EC artist.

Minor clarification --> Byrne was born in England, then moved to Canada prior to moving to the USA

No love for Jim Starlin B| as an artist? Perhaps stronger as a writer over these several decades: Marvel, Epic, Malibu.

Starlin also wrote some interesting stories for DC, including Ten Nights of the Beast (KGBeast) and the Death of Robin, among other noteworthy stories,

Defined as an artist who had any work originally published by an American publisher, I assume?

Charles Schulz 'Peanuts'

Robert Crumb: too extreme for mainstream.

Nice Joe Shuster and Zeck/Beatty covers but interior pencils a bit pedestrian/simple?

Alex Raymond 'Flash Gordon'

Leo O'Mealia early GA DC (Action, Adventure Comics)

Hal Foster 'Prince Valiant' that I liked better than his early 'Tarzan.'

Disqualified: Dave Sim 'Cerebus' published by (: Aardvark-Vanaheim in Canada.

Can't argue with any of the ones listed and it comes to personal preference.  The ones below would be considered for my list.

Charles Biro

Rudy Palais

Dan Zolnerowich

And I am sure no one will agree but Charles Sultan - he emulated the best, Lou Fine, but he was a damned good artist.

Actually, I would choose Mike Golden over Jack Guice, a clone of Golden. John Stanley on Little Lulu and Tubby art?

Joe Simon and Marshall Rogers did not even make it on the OP's list.

I never thought about Jackson guice being a Golden clone but now that you mention it....

Always a controversial opinion, but I would rank Sal buscema on my worst artist list in the #3 spot, followed closely by John Romita Jr. at #4.

I could defend three of those artists. Not saying I’m right and you’re wrong; Just goes to show that it’s hard to argue matters of taste.
