I would add Don Heck as part of top 10 Worst USA comic artists.

Always going to be a polarising choice as some of his Iron Man / TOS artwork is excellent.

Who do you think are some of the greatest American comic book artists of all time? My choices:

I would add:

Marshall Rogers.  When I think of the definitive Batman, I think of his incredible work in ‘Tec.  His work on Mister Miracle was also excellent and a welcomed upgrade from Kirby’s work on the title.

Dale Keown is missing from the list- best Hulk artist ever!

Mike Grell’s work on Warlord and Jon Sable is far superior to many of the artists on the OP’s list and he should be included.

Frank Brunner is another great artist who should be included on the list

Don Rosa, the heir apparent to Carl Barks, wrote and illustrated some excellent Ducks stories in his own right, but he also wrote and illustrated the greatest origin story of all time: The Life and Times of Scrooge McDuck.  If you haven’t read it yet, do yourself a favour and pick up a copy.  You’ll be glad you did. It’s a timeless tale for kids of all ages.

Now that's a list I could get on board with.

The worst. Leifeld #1

Liefeld draws like his hand got stung by swarm of bees.  And this makes him draw everyone like their entire body stung by bee swarm and puffed up.

I think it is in the eye of the beholder.

Yes we can agree that it is possible to determine 'bad art' in the case of Liefeld's early depictions of feet.

But to say that you hate Humberto Ramos?  I may not like Ramos' style on certain characters but he draws well for the style that he is using.  I personally like Wally Wood, Romita Sr and a few others more than Kirby's art.  I can appreciate Kirby's art but if I had the ability to pick up a classic Kirby cover or a classic Wood EC cover, I would buy the Kirby cover so I could immediately sell it and buy the Wood Cover and a few other things.

Of the modern artists though?  I really dig Jim Lee's stuff. in my opinion. Lee's take on Batman was possibly the best take on the character, I've seen in years.

Nobody said ‘hate’...they said worst.

Fair enough... not in this thread.

But I have heard it said numerous times across various discussions of Ramos.

I hate him. If I had unlimited funds I would offer him lots of money to never draw a DC or Marvel character again.

...and there we have it. lol

(thumbsu Ramos makes Frank Robbins look like Frank Frazetta.

To incite still further, was Robbins really so bad when you compare him to a certain ‘creator’ mentioned in the all-time best list; the infinitely overrated Bob Kane?
