Here's something different. These are known as "thick books" and are a sort of bridge between dime novels and the pulps. They are digest-sized and printed on cheaper pulp paper, so they are often yellowed just like early pulps. None of these copies are outright brittle, but they still need to be handled carefully. The covers are printed on slicker paper and still show some of their original sheen. They are about 3/4 of an inch thick.

New Magnet Library No. 956 - "The Mysterious Mail Robbery" by Nicholas Carter.  $20   -   or $30 total if you take all three!

Up next are a trio of dime novels, or more properly "half dime novels" or "nickel weeklies." They were chief among American fiction periodicals in the Victorian era, and are certainly indispensable to the development of the pulps in the 20th century.

All issues show signs of loving preservation/restoration done by enthusiasts decades ago. Rice paper repairs, taped spines, etc. were common techniques used in the 1930's thru the 50's by an earlier generation of fans who scoured attics and bookstores for these and the oversized story papers by publishers like Street and Smith and Munsey.

The paper can be delicate and is often brittle around the edges. Must be handled with care!

$30 each.

Beadle's Half Dime Library No. 916.  Chipping around the edges back cover.   $30  SOLD!

First up, a set of four Superman Sunday comic pages from the early 40's. The margins vary on these pages as seen, but the paper is supple and the body of the strip displays well. $50 plus shipping flat with cardboard $10.

Okay, back to some comics. Up first is Avengers 196 - first full appearance of the Taskmaster!

Structurally, this books looks VF, but there a few stains or foxing just along the spine and a small stain on the back cover, so I'm calling it a Fine.  $100
