It's definitely a spectrum of collector views, there are collectors who have said that the direct market made comic books so easy to get in high grade that nothing from the 1980s should have any value in direct editions because they were treated like gold from the first day and it's no problem to obtain any direct edition in any grade on any day of the year.

I remember being on these boards and reading a similar opinion about anything from the Bronze Age. Amazing how much has changed over the last 10-15 years.

Okay looks like you're after more than keys if you have that many on your target list. Or are you looking at more than just Marvels? I was mainly referring to things like NM #86, 98 or Daredevil 277, Hulk 340 or maybe Alf #1??? Asm 252 is easy. Even just random Mcfarlane ASM 9.8 UPC other than his first three have super high asking prices. Forget about 298 299 300, you'll be fortunate to see a 9.8 upc without them asking the moon! Especially if this information from Valiantman gets out

As always, people should avoid paying insane prices to acquire things from insufficiently_thoughtful_persons who overvalue their :censored:. There will always be people who are actually interested in making sales, even if they aren't visible at any specific moment in time.

This ratio seems similar to other Copper newsies as well. Checked Ebay listings for Cap'n A. Annual #8 and found 99 listings total (69 direct - 30 newsstand). When raising the bar to just 9.0 or above the ratio jumped to 22 direct vs 3 newsstand. At uber 9.6/9.8 high grade the ratio jumped again to 13 direct vs 1 newsstand.

I was looking at another Copper key today. GPA lists 91 sales of X-Men #266 since March 19th. 81 of the sales were for $320 to $500, 10 of the sales were for $610 to $950. That's a pretty big hole from $501 to $609 without a single sale. If you throw out the $610 sale, then the hole grows to $150. Anybody wanna guess which sales were Direct and which were newsstands?
