X-Men #99 - experts needed - printing defect - will it affect grade?

Looks like a printing mis-cuttting on the front cover.

Do CGC allow for this or will it get whacked?

I'm calling 7.5 - 8.5 but I need your help with the cover issue

Thoughts please?

Thanks! :foryou:

PS: writing is with normal pencil so can be erased if someone wants to.

Not sure what cgc would say about the mid cut,  but I’d say VG/F (5.0) as is.

Mid cut or miscut?

Yeah, I have no idea wether they will hammer it to, as you say, a 5.0, or treat it as a natural defect. The whole book is out of whack. The extra paper is only on the front cover (of course) not on any other pages (see back shot)

It makes the book look shabbier which is a shame.

Thanks anyway mate.

miscut, it was a typo. I would not bother slabbing that copy. (thumbsu

I wasn't - it's going on the bay but I didn't want to over-grade it if CGC will hammer it.

I'd rather be certain before putting it up.

Hopefully someone can clarify it for me

Thanks again :foryou:

If its going on ebay, just say its in the fine range.

That's it. Number 1 answer and the perfect solution as the moderate accumulated defects on a common Bronze age book supersede issues of centering or plumb. If the book is up in the 9.0 range, yes, then the finer points of eye appeal, like fold and such become a tangible factor. In this grade? This book? Not a prime consideration.
