You guys knew about her? What issue is it from, anyone?

if that was a guess... it was amazingly good.

Mermaid in a wheelchair, covered by a blanket, just like Superman’s Lori Lemaris. Not the only story using that idea.

References to seaside and shells in first two panels.

It's from Strange Tales #97. The CGC label says "Story predates Amazing Fantasy #15 with 2 characters by Steve Ditko named Aunt May and Uncle Ben".

Opinion is divided as to the canonicity of their appearance.

I came across it  chronologically inside amazing fantasy 12 reprinted in ditto suspense omnibus 2. That’s just three issues before first asm!

Despite some superficial similarities, these characters, May and Ben Barker, were never intended to be prototypes for Spider-Man’s relatives.

It would be worth buying for the cover alone.

And yes, canonical, a big word, is a good word as well.

That one was unfortunately destroyed completely in modern comics’ Secret Wars, Marvel‘s Crisis on Infinite Earths, and has been rendered non-canonical.

I like the chap at the bottom with the hair Ken. The look on his face has a 'what the focaccia is going on here' look to it.

It’s a 60s comic, and judging from his hair he’s perhaps hoping it’s just a very bad hallucination.
