How do you think the book will be affected once Venom 2 concludes in theatres?

For example, the value of Rai 0 dropped considerably after Bloodshot was released.

Ummm...............nothing to see here as isn't this what happens to 99% of the movie or TV related over hyped books after they hit either the big or small screens?  :gossip:

Wow 500$ for 4.5

Double wow indeed, as this makes me wonder what the CGC 0.5 graded Universal copy would go for since it's clearly super super rare being by far the Single Lowest Graded copy out of almost 20,000 slabbed copies according to the CGC Census Population Report.  :flipbait:   :takeit:

So I have an honest collector question for ASM 300.

I think ASM 300 is an amazing book. I think it’s well written (albeit dated) as it really made Eddie scary, and a threat.

I think the art is cool (albeit dated) and McFarlane was really giving it his all.

For a comic book, I like it. It’s a definite buy book, and deserves the recognition.

My question is, how many hidden raw gems are still out there waiting to be graded?
I read a super old post, back in 2009 where people were discussion UXM 141, and how the book value was really high, but that collectors were worried that stacks of long boxes existed, just waiting to be graded.

The obvious comparison book here is IH 181. That book value has sky rocketed. Now it was also printed at a very different moment in time.

ASM 300 currently has 1,072 registered blue label 9.8s. $5,000 for a 9.8 isn’t outrageous. It’s high, but not outrageous.

We all know, if another... 600 blue labels are found, in the wild, it’s going to affect prices.

What’s the likelihood of that happening?

BTW: the poster on the UXM thread was right, apparently at the time of that post, there were only double digit blue labels of 141, and eBay prices were around $1,000. Since then the blue label count has quadrupled and prices halved.

Wow this is epic. Well done!!

So in roughly 10 years we will have doubled the count, now that it’s a hot book, more are getting graded.

I'm confused by your response lol

It took 15 years to get to 1072, took longer for the last 100 to get 9.8 than the previous 100. In 10 years with that downward progression, I dont see doubling happening whe it too 14 years.

More may be getting graded but the same amount are receiving 9.8, so many other grades will have doubled or tripled but not 9.8

The last 300 took less than 3 years to get. 7 months, 10 months, and 14 months.
31 months.
the 300 before that took 4 years, 48 months, and the 400 before that were over 7 years.

so it feels like it’s accelerating

I can see that

Yet if there will be that many 9.8's in 10 years, I'm imagining the other grades in comparison

Cause even 1072 is a lot of 9.8s and the only thing I can think is people still feel its deserving only cause its relative to other grades lol

And 10 years is really a long time to see come and then look back and reflect. (thumbsu

Still I hope its something else for a long time :wishluck:

Yeah I know what you mean. You had me second guessing my math! I was like, I dunno! Maybe I do have it wrong.
I agree with you, 1,072 blue labels is a lot. I think CGC is really heating up and the last 5 or so years, the market for graded books has gone beyond the hard collector. I think CGC graded books now appeal to even the more subtle collectors.

I guess my biggest overarching point was, unlike IH 181 where printing wasn’t refined and storage wasn’t as clever, getting 9.8s floating in the wild now, I assume, would be pretty rare.

But ASM was a SMASH hit. How many printed copies? 500,000? More? A million? Regardless, there has to be just long boxes of these books just sitting around, ungraded still.

It just seems, much like UXM 141 that I used for a comparison, both 141 and 300 are books that I think still have many blue label 9.8 potentials floating still in the wild.

Your math was right lol

I'm the one who jumped the gun, my bad, and it just seemed so slow a progression for a while there lol

But I'm sure there are still a lot out there, and although I would doubt that many are 9.8....

A 100 book progression over a years time really doesnt sound like a fast one or a lot of books, until you compare it to ten years and then I'm :tonofbricks:

Totally true.
I also don’t think the heat for 300 is going to cool in the next 3 years either

I think there will be serious money to be made on this book, but that the demand of it will ultimately plateau its value when the supply will match the demand. It will definitely take a few more years at least though.

until then...

Hey everyone, rather than start a new thread I thought I could pose this question here. Lets say you weren't willing to dish out the dough for a CGC 9.8 or 9.6 ASM 300. What would be your second choice to own regarding Venom appearances in those grades?

ASM 299 ( Cameo but full page of just venom) ?

Or ASM 316 (1st Venom cover)  ?

Or perhaps another Venom featured book?

Depends which one you really want. If you want the first in book (aside from 300) then get the 299 so long as the label says Venom Cameo.

Personally, as it's gonna be slabbed and I wont (be able to) open the book I'd go for 316. 1st cover and great to look at.

And then Lethal Protector #1

Agreed. I think 316 is the book. Especially graded. Hedge your bets and just get 252,298,299,300,316, and SW8.

If you're really hedging your bets, you also need ASM 315.  First (little) Venom cover.  (Yeah, right!)

I mean, Venom's head is bigger than Spider-Man's head on ASM #315, but neither is as big as Johnny Bravo Hydro Man. lol
