Comparing those two books .. although both 9.8, the $6500 looked tighter. Check out the right edge of the $5200 version.

Agreed. Besides the jagged right edge(common on this book), you have pages visible on top left, bottom right, and right side, top.

Nice book, but lower-end 9.8 IMO.

It's obvious the seller doesn't want to part with it. So what do you do?....you list it at a ridiculous amount and hope someone caves in..

This has already been listed for several weeks and the owner came onto this thread to indicate its merely a fishing expedition

It's a good plan. If someone rich enough wants the best, they can grab it in one purchase albeit at a premium.

Yes, there's a point in collecting (usually decades after you start) where there might be "unique" items in your collection that you really don't want to sell...

BUT...

If the sale of those items could ALSO be a life-changing event (let's face it, $350,000 would be like winning the lottery for most people), you'll seriously consider the possibility.

Money means different things to different people, so $5,000 might not do anything for some collectors... for others, they could do something big with $500.  But $100,000+ usually opens a lot of options that people might like to check out.

All true. I tend to think along the lines of....If I made $5 million dollars a year and collected comics, it wouldn't be that hard to drop $350k on these 3 quality books. You aren't investing in them but want the top of the line whether it be a car, boat or slabbed Mcfarlane Spidey's. Of course you would also be going after original McFarlane covers.
