Zack Snyder's Justice League, Black Adam, and a whole lot more will feature in the Fandome event

Buckle up, superhero fans, as DC has announced its biggest ever online event.

With San Diego Comic-Con going online this year, DC has decided to start its own virtual event, Fandome, which will be accessible by anyone for free – no badge required. For 24 hours, the website will be accessible around the world, offering fans at the biggest movies, TV shows, and comics coming over the next few years.

Warner Bros. has pulled out all the stops when it comes to the movies they will be showing off at the event, including The Batman, Black Adam, Zack Snyder's Justice League, The Suicide Squad, and Wonder Woman 1984.

The official release teases "new announcements from WB Games, Film and TV, and comics" including:

  • Aquaman
  • The Batman
  • Batwoman
  • Black Adam
  • Black Lightning
  • DC Super Hero Girls
  • DC’s Legends of Tomorrow
  • DC’s Stargirl
  • Doom Patrol
  • The Flash
  • Harley Quinn
  • Lucifer
  • Pennyworth
  • SHAZAM!
  • the SnyderCut
  • The Suicide Squad
  • Supergirl
  • Superman & Lois
  • Teen Titans GO!
  • Titans
  • Watchmen
  • Young Justice: Outsiders
  • Wonder Woman 1984

One of the more surprising entries there is Watchmen. While the main series and Doomsday Clock spin-off comic series finished a while back, HBO released a sequel TV series that introduced new characters and added context to familiar ones. While showrunner Damon Lindelof has been ambivalent about being involved with a second season himself, he previously said that another creator could come on board and take over the reins. Perhaps another announcement is incoming?

For the meantime, all we can do is speculate about the reveals that will come with the mega-fan event, which begins August 22 at 10am PDT and will be accessible for 24 hours at DCFanDome.com. The event will feature six different virtual areas, each with their own full programmes.

Looks like the gaming division will have a strong presence as well.

With this year's San Diego Comic-Con canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic, Warner Bros. is creating its own event to promote its slate of comic book movies and TV shows.

DC FanDome will stream for free Aug. 22 beginning at 10 a.m. PT at DCFanDome.com and be available online for 24 hours.

This could be the most extensive looks yet at a number of high-profile projects, including Matt Reeves' The Batman, which shut down production in March amid the coronavirus pandemic, and James Gunn's The Suicide Squad, which has been tightly guarded after wrapping filming in February and has yet to release any footage or photos. The studio also will use the event to tout Wonder Woman 1984, which is due out Oct. 2 after being postponed twice due to the coronavirus.

The studio also promises a presence from DC movies including Black Adam, The Flash, Zack Snyder's Justice League, Aquaman and Shazam! as well as TV's The Flash, Black Lightning, DC Super Hero Girls, Legends of Tomorrow, Stargirl, Doom Patrol, Harley Quinn, Lucifer, Pennyworth, Supergirl, Superman & Lois, Teen Titans GO!, Titans, Watchmen and Young Justice: Outsiders.

Warner Bros. is also planning announcements from its gaming division and DC Comics. In addition to film and TV talent, executives slated to participate in the event include prolific TV producer and Arrowverse creator Greg Berlanti, DC publisher and CCO Jim Lee, and DC film boss Walter Hamada.

"With DC FanDome, we’re able to give fans from around the world an exciting and unparalleled way to connect with all their favorite DC characters, as well as the incredible talent who bring them to life on the page and screen," Warner Bros. CEO Ann Sarnoff said in a statement.

For the past decade, Comic-Con has been a go-to place for Warner Bros., Marvel Studios and other studios to tease upcoming comic book tentpoles and TV shows, but that changed with this year's convention being canceled and migrating online for a number of virtual panels for an event called Comic-Con at Home. Several studios and TV networks are said to have signed up for Comic-Con At Home, but those details are being kept under wraps for now. Warners is the first studio to announce its own plans.

Superman and Batman could be set to take on the podcast world after Spotify struck a deal with Warner Bros. and DC.

The multi-year deal will see the three companies produce and distribute an original slate of narrative scripted podcasts. No specific shows have been unveiled.

Spotify will have a first-look at original scripted narrative DC podcasts, including new shows based on the universe of iconic DC characters. In addition to producing podcasts based on existing characters and established franchises from across Warner Bros. and DC, the companies will also collaborate to create new programming from original IP.

It is the latest podcast deal for Warner Bros, which earlier this year struck a development deal with Rainy Day Podcasts, the company formed by Mick Jagger, Victoria Pearman, Steve Bing and Josh Olson.

The deal will be managed by Warner Bros’ Peter Girardi, EVP of Blue Ribbon Content and of Alternative Programming at Warner Bros. Animation, who will lead the creative side and Robert Steele, SVP, Business Strategy and Operations, Warner Bros. Digital Networks, who will manage the business side.

“As we continue to see explosive growth in podcasting around the world, we are thrilled to partner with Warner Bros. to build this slate of programming drawn from the worlds of DC and WB,” said Dawn Ostroff, Chief Content and Advertising Business Officer, Spotify. “We could not be more excited to be working with Robert, Peter and the entire Warner Bros. and DC teams to deliver new exclusive stories to the more than 286 million Spotify users.”

“Warner Bros. has been synonymous with compelling and unforgettable storytelling for nearly a century, and we’re continuing to expand that legacy across all types of media platforms for our fans,” added Steele and Girardi. “Spotify’s deep engagement with its consumers and commitment to prioritizing their podcast vertical makes them an ideal partner in this endeavor. We’re excited to bring beloved characters and franchises from DC and Warner Bros. into this new world and to use our storytelling prowess to redefine what’s possible in the scripted audio space.”

I checked and it looks like nothing has come out yet. But I am sure Disney could turn this around rapidly with a virtual event.

Fricking Marvel. They need to announce Subby and SS/Galactus coming to theatres near you in July as part of Phase 4 to help my cause.
