If they are old T & P stamps, they must have been used on something other than comics, or one of the eagle-eyed denizens of these boards would have dragged them into the light of day.

Is this the evidence we were looking for? A contemporaneous use of the 2/- diamond stamp to (almost) prove categorically it's a T&P stamp! I'm not a denizen, I just visit occasionally!

I added quite a few more examples to the table today courtesy of one helpful eBay seller, including another 'first 6' candidate:

He expands the probable second cycle group to six books now, with December 59 taking over as the majority cover month:

I'm going to leave them there for now until I have looked for a lot more examples.

Who imported the last few issues of the Prize/Crestwood Black Magic? I've owned a few issues for 50 years. Couldn't even give them away for free (see also Charltons/Dell/Mighty/Gold Key/King/etc) Managed to give away my Spidermans easily enough at the time though.

Well, at least one of them, anyway.

Thanks for the prompt reply! I've always wondered about the many comics that DIDN'T have T&P (or anyone elses' price stamps on them) ie: most of the  the Mighty/Radio comics in my collection. I suppose the newsagents just went with the popular prices of the time?

Although, just to contradict myself. how does this particular comic fit in to your master plan !?!

Probably, but who knows?

At the moment it doesn't, along with a few other publishers that I've gathered images for. MCG (Mighty, not Marvel) have too few copies available to inspect however to make any reasonable judgement at this point. There are a few of the unique 7d stamps out there - here's another:

254716280_1966.08MightyCrusaders6.jpg.8bae38304983d9e32ea9b5ec8e0122ed.jpg

...but then we have these two stamp types which mirror those of the Gold Star window - one oblong, one circular - the same as those on the two ASM #43s that I posted:

1137867476_1966.12TheShield41.jpg.22802cfbae958b218ce80b3d5d98a4a1.jpg1595315206_1967.06BlackHood47.jpg.0d9e823d5d3bdf310d9a56108336ec75.jpg

Whilst interesting, these books are fairly late into the UK distribution window for me and are of less significance as a result. They're cool, but don't play any meaningful role I feel - more of a foot note in the timeline (that I'll finally get around to summarising one day).

Just my opinion in the overall context of my the thread though, speaking as I do as the usual champion of the obscure.

Which coincidentally is about as much as he'd consider discounting it by if you asked. And then he'd decline.

One and three was a bargain, yes.

I have quite a few M.F.s saved with T&P stamps on, so they distributed them at least in part. This one has a one and six and a 2 shilling diamond stamp:

Split the difference? (ahem)

And here's another of those triangular stamps, but this a more appropriate one and six:

1002120093_1966.11CaptainMarvel4.jpg.c43cd4894380ef1d33a4c3945e960531.jpg

I've never bought one - were they as fun as they looked?

They were terrible, I just had a quick look for these Fatman & Green Beret to see if they were stamps, no joy on where I thought they would be, I would love to be organised again :(

How many does it take to qualify as unique?

I meant unique to the publication Albert - I've not seen that stamp type on any other publisher's book. Have you? I've not seen enough examples to make it a thing though.

I see that no one rose to the challenge of posting another T&P stamped Gold Key, following my post some pages back.

Here is the current two shilling loner, of which two examples have been found:

1740366918_1963.01Thriller2TPStamp.thumb.jpg.339b856380a990631c8b6e7b10900fce.jpg

Gold Key are an oddity I find, in the history of US comics in the UK. Aside of this apparent lone stamped copy, we have a proliferation of 6p stickered Tom and Jerrys (and only Tom and Jerrys, no other titles have I found)...

1681898642_TomandJerry6pStickers.thumb.jpg.d02c3dcd68b354ef7f5ae5437b417483.jpg 6p1.jpg.ad71fc280541fe8ea5a4bf054556a6a6.jpg

...followed by the formal UKPVs, with the suspiciously similar printed font:

2017716304_BorisKarloffTalesofMystery51(Dec73)6p.thumb.jpg.87f58d5efb69c863547f9e0820bdb9f6.jpg

There is also only a small handful of other, non-company specific price stamped examples in the files so far.

And I haven't seen any direct evidence as to who was responsible for the printed UKPV's distribution over here.

A most mysterious set of publications, are the Gold Keys....

No doubt this isn't the right thread but hey ho. I can't scroll through your 1000s of posts to see if this has been mentioned before. In the spring of 1976 it appears T&P had a half price sale. At the time new comics were 10p. Was it to clear the decks of unsold inventory/returns? I do recall buying double my usual amount of new comics for a few weeks even though the choice was less popular titles that were a few months old.

ist issue special 7.jpg

Same 5p sticker here on two 10p stamped Atlas books:
