Do you remember John Junkin, Albert? He was on the Sweeney the other week.

And now he's on he other side, too. Hope he and Cynthia will be happy together.

I wonder what happened to her brother Bodie? Middle name Norman, as I recall.

This is taxing my few remaining little grey cells. See you after weekend.

Poirot would've got it.

Those of you who have been paying attention will likely be wondering when you'll be getting your refunds. Attention clearly made off with the goods and the money. Never stand to attention. Or trust it. It will only take your money.

Talking of money, my deep dive into Harvey (get your jokes in now) revealed a 100% Miller distribution monopoly, that is, that every single copy showing it's face in Blighty was Miller stamped. Here's an example from July 1961:

859031541_1961.07Spooky57LMStamp.thumb.jpg.062fdf2146d35cff9233d7cbf0a8e960.jpg

I see you!

Miller stamped on Harvey from 1959 all the way up to 1970, which was odd given that Miller sold up to Class in 66. Maybe they kept the distribution arm though hm

Spoiler

So Harvey was in bed with Miller and only Miller in the UK and obviously spurned the advances of Porter and Thorpe. Maybe they smelled.

It makes this book an oddity though, correctly priced for the period:

And what do you think you're doing on there!

I quite like Harveys, incidentally.

I spotted this eight stamped Superman #133 in an online auction lot:

I wonder if 'Shield' Books were a forerunner of RV?

Anyway, the previous example was stamped a nine so we have one #133 in each column now:

Here's the nine example:

Superman #133 remains the earliest known stamped copy - in fact not much has changed on that front since I populated the table last year:

The actual tracking pages are now too full to fit the pages so I have to think of a different way to present the 1-9 cycles now while somehow managing to keep them on one page. There's a portrait version in progress - wish me luck...

The seller of this Superman 132 claims it was the first officially distributed UK copy of the title and is most likely correct. I owned an issue back in the day and there seem to be quite a few around even now. I would have bought it second hand from a UK market stall in the 1960s but never noticed (or cared) if it had a T&P stamp or not.

There's certainly no shortage of copies available which look like they were always here, if it's possible to look like that. Maybe they just weren't stamped for some reason. Trouble is, no stamp equals no concrete evidence equals we'll never know for sure.

Where do you think these stickers originate from boys? Something Eastern looking about them.

Any clues?

Hmmm, I dunno where but I have some with that sticker on too somewhere.

I did just find this stamp today when I looked at some of my Supermans, dunno how long I have had this book ( looong time) and its not that I think the stamp is too unusual, but I never noticed it before, I blame Marwood, got me obsessing about stamps and stickers lol

That's cool Kev - a 57 on a 58. And nicely placed too - no wonder you didn't spot it for so long.

Funny what you say about fussing over stamps - I got an email notification for a comic auction today which included oceans of DCs. I checked every lot's photo and was gutted that not one of them was stamped. When did that happen - stampless comics are now a disappointment!

What about Lancashire?

If indeed it is eastern then would be one of the old British colonies to be using pennies.

Why Lancashire Gary - is that a local symbol then?

Love the stamps. Even miss the Comic Code stamps on modern (not me!) books. Horror Monsters No 7 appears to be our New Series No 1 with a cute RV stamp. Issue No 9 is oddly our No 7. How does that work? And was the "New Series No 7 2/6" over printed here in the UK or done by Charlton?? I think we should be told....
