Shipping to ComicLink - Questions

Does anyone have experience shipping artwork to ComicLink from outside of the US (Canada)?

What service did you use?

How did taxes on import to US (if any) get handled?

Was any special documentation required as it was being imported for auction (final value TBD)?

How did you handle shipping insurance?

Thanks!

you are shipping from Canada to Comiclink?

I do it all the time.  US does not charge duties on art imports, even if they do, that isn't your problem (although Clink will clue in eventually and get you back)

I just use Canada Post.  I never insure my packages.

Thanks, Malvin.

Do you forgo shipping insurance because your collection is insured anyway, or are you just rolling the dice?

Was thinking Fedex based on the delays in the postal stream right now. You had no issues with the stuff in the current auction?

rolling the dice is a strong word, but I don't buy insurance and never had any problems with all the packages I shipped.

But you have to do what you are comfortable with.  Why are you in a rush to get stuff to comiclink? Are you trying to make an auction cut off?

I'm sure @malvin also packs very well.  That's an "art" in and of itself.  If necessary, check out the "Shipping OA" pinned topic.

I live in Toronto.

I have send 3 pieces of comic book art for auction on CLink
on 3 different occasions.

I have send way more packages with CGC books
over 20 times.

I always use Canada post
I never have a problem.

I never use insurance
I always use tracking number & return to sender
in case of any problem..

I have a few problems with other costumers
but that was serendipity
like the time I send a piece of OA
and took more that 2 months to arrive
a few phone calls and research show
that once in a while USPS hold whole containers for inspection
and that could take time.

hope this help...
