Needless to say I voted YES to the hall of shame lol

More importantly, we know that his first name or one that he goes by is 'Vincent'

Below is what he sent me when trying to get me to go through with a scam that would have resulted in me losing thousands of dollars.  I cannot post screen shots as he deleted the text from our PMs (which is extra shady), but I did save the text.  I was skeptical from the beginning but his response to me asking about the return policy if they were deemed not authentic was when I knew something was up:

"Thank you once again for the compliment, I think they are too.

I have looked over them for many years and am convinced they are authentic, but I did not personally witness them get signed, as I said in the description, I purchased them many years ago from a trusted antiquarian dealer, so my own convincing opinion and honor on that can really only go so far. I hope you understand. Now, on the returning, if this was any other time I would say yes, but with the virus (the reason why, alas, I am letting them go) all the money collected from these sales are going strait to benefitting my current, rather "tragic" situation, and thus getting money back to anyone would be tough.

I would really say look at the signatures carefully and study them well, and be certain before you do anything. I do not want anyone to be unhappy with this, and god forbid, if any company states them not to be authentic, I would be utterly stabbed with pain. You have the reputation of my honor and dignity on them being authentic, but of course, once again, that only goes so far.

It is a tricky business, but if you feel confident I hope I can get them to someone who would, indeed, hold it as a "center" piece, as I believe it deserves that very much so, as they are very, very special.

Once again thank you for the interest.

Cordially yours, Vincent"

Are we sure of that, Buzz?

Considering his pattern of fraud and deceit, I would think he may switch identities on a whim.  He is pretty polished from the PM he sent @SkOw

He has played this game before and will do so again.  He ranks up there with Danny Dupcak and Wilhelm Uthe (just two names that come to mind, and yes, Dupdork got me around 40 years ago,

That’s why I said, “one that he goes by.”

That is why it would be great if @dinesh_s or @Xatari would post his paypal address.  I would have if I had gotten that far.

No I understand.  I was trying to say that might be the only time he used Vincent.  Could be one of many.

Appreciate all the groundwork and effort you're doing, Buzz.

For future reference, you can have PM sent to your email.

This gives you full PM including pictures and attachments that are not subject to deletion on the boards.

There was discussion over on the CBCS boards that they thought he might be a particular seller on eBay because they shared a common name.  I felt that chameleoncolors was a name like TigerStripes or ButterflyWings where it was too generic to drag some seller down especially if they had no history of selling books or comic related stuff other than child costumes.

But... Vincent... he introduced himself as that.  So... I felt it was fair game.

I am on a LOT of calls today for some reason and I am supposed to be off.   So I apologize if the first answer was a bit curt.

Thanks for posting the images @SkOw, its pretty clear that they're all forgeries since they read as Steno Ditko.  A quick Google image search of Ditko's signature will reveal plenty of signed fan letters, and in each of them he made an obvious distinction between the v and the second e in Steve.  I also didn't see one example where he looped the e into the t cross.

The "Stan" signatures are even more dreadful, especially since they're supposed to be from 1993.

This on par with some of the worst forged drek that @James J Johnson has found on eBay.

F for effort, F for execution.

And that pm to you?  Yikes.  A whole lot of flowery caveat emptor.  Dude would have definitely disappeared with your money, and I'm guessing grandma wasn't getting any of it.

Where is that documented?  Sellers post their own PayPal IDs and other people on the HOS have had their personal information shared.  Chip comes to mind.  I would just like to see the rule and the context around it.

Hi, I haven’t responded to this thread because I felt as though this was was resolved and didn’t want to publicly shame someone unless there was hard evidence this was, in fact, done knowingly.

I have the name sent to me on the PayPal invoice, but it is not Vincent. Because of forum rules, I am reluctant to post any additional information but am happy to with moderator consent. If a mod would like to reach out to me, I am willing to provide what I know but don’t want to blast someone in a public forum whom I don’t know other than this interaction which was immediately refunded.

Thank you to the community for protecting my interest in the transaction as the would have been a massive bummer.

At first glance I would assume that (c) is about professional operations to mine or scrape personal data for resale or other commercial purposes. This does not on its own read as a blanket prohibition on sharing personal information of other users. I have always understood that posting personal information publicly is wrong, and in other public disputes here it has been the practice to blank out phone numbers and addresses, but I do not think names have been considered as protected, and communicating such information via PM may be different, that would need to be clarified. I do not believe that CGC guarantees or is committed to protecting the anonymity of its users, but I am just guessing. 2c
