Reporting Possible Error CGC Made on Label of Eldon Pedigree Cap Book

Hello,

CGC said a few months ago that with new specialized labels, there may be issues with recognition of books that would and should get purple or green labels instead. We've seen it in Signature series with marvel Character labels that are restored yet have a full yellow label and now I have found a similar case with the Golden pedigree label.

Below is Captain America 3 Eldon Pedigree that was regraded and put into the new gold pedigree slab. However, the centerfold was detached in the process of realigning the spine. You can see the images below. It went from a 6.5 blue label (centerfold NOT detached) to a 7.0 gold label (centerfold detached). From what I checked there is no such thing as a qualified gold pedigree label so it seems this now qualified book is being paraded around as a universal book mistakenly. Is that correct? Because if this isn't a mistake then that would mean ripping off a centerfold would increase a book's grade.

This is being discussed in this thread as well, please make an announcement as to whether or not this will/should be corrected because (as you did with the signature series marvel labels), this loophole could be abused to bypass restoration or qualified labels.

Good morning, thanks for your message.  I forwarded your message to our grading team and they advised that they are not seeing an issue with the example above.  It appears the book was cracked out and pressed and identified as a pedigree the 2nd time around but the centerfold became detached at that time.  According to the graders a detached centerfold could not receive higher than a 7.0 so this grade would fall in line with that.  If the graders felt the book should have received a qualified grade, it would have received a green label but the grade would have been higher.  The pedigree would still have been noted, even on the qualified label.

If you have any other questions, please let us know. Thank you!
