Popular Post Bronty
great stuff everyone. With Space Usagi suddenly being hot with the upcoming show I am reminded that I have some late 80s Groo pages where Stan Sakai was conceptualizing Space Usagi on the backs of the pages while he lettered Groo. 3-4 years? before the first appearance of Space Usagi. Fully inked I think? I'll try and dig em out sometime. *** So I took it out and.. before I take a pic or anything... it is Space Usagi, but by Aragones and in 1987 (on the back of a Groo #26 page). Keeping in mind the first space usagi story is 5 years later, I wonder if Aragones gave Sakai the idea? Or helped him conceptualize? I'll have to ask one of them how that came to be, unless someone here knows the story?? Popular Post RabidFerret
This is a fun topic:) Here's a great 'flip side' piece I lucked into. Long, long ago I was buying art from Whilce Portacio's brother-in-law and they had just broken up a couple of early Punisher issues. He was raving about how gorgeous some of the art on the back was. When I bought a few pages he tossed this page in for free. Pencils by Whilce Portacio. Inks by, I believe, Scott Williams/@stinkininkin The front side is nothing special. Streets, sidewalks, and characters out of costume. The back side has 3 different Punisher heads penciled by Whilce, that were then later partially inked by Scott. Far cooler than the front:) Edited August 12, 2020 by RabidFerret Spider-Variant, Twanj, John E. and 3 others
BuraddoRun
I currently own just 6 pieces, and most are blank or just have that proprietary company copyright disclaimer stamp. One of my Batgirls has some very rough pencil sketches, though. It's not much, just the artist trying to figure out the poses he was going to use on the front. exitmusicblue
MIL0S
I purchased a Mark Texeira Batman pinup and was pleasantly surprised to find a page prelim on the backside when I received it. Does anyone recognize what it’s from? BuraddoRun, cloud cloddie and John E.

Popular Post Rick2you2
For those of you who want to see both sides of a piece of art, I had bought something by Jerry Grandenetti a while ago (for my better half). The artist did a first take of the subject which he didn't like very much (presumably). So, he redid it on the other side and colored it. Since I wanted to have both sides viewed, I went to my local art supply house and found this interesting double-sided glass frame. I then put it on a little easel in front of a mirror she has. Now, both sides can be seen. If you are wondering, it is called "Getting to Know Each Other". I would have simply called it a good date. John E.
I don’t know what we both read Cloddie, but I was going to start this exact same topic, only you beat me to it. I mean I’m barely getting around to respond. The only difference is that I was going to name my thread, “Show Us Your Backsides.” Rick2you2, BuraddoRun and cloud cloddie

Popular Post zhamlau
Picked up an Art Adam’s Longshot origin page from 5. As it shows up the guy tells me there is stuff on the back. Indeed there was. What a perfect Adam’s Surfer among other good work. I'm both proud and pleased that I've actually paid those numbers "back in the day", direct from the artist's table. The other day something came in for a friend, he paid over a grand and on the back...$7.50 (from the 1970s) exitmusicblue

Most (all?) of Mike Zeck's 1980s covers have $50 on the back. Paul Neary's 80s covers 50 GBP and/or $75. cloud cloddie

Yep - That was pretty much how Zeck and Beatty spent the money from those covers. But, $50 was for the better covers! Some were only $40! When Jim Warden took over as his art rep, the price went up to $75 for most covers. That was around 1987-88. John E.
